Attending the meeting on the Vietnamese side were Politburo member, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council Nguyen Xuan Thang, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Russian Federation Dang Minh Khoi, representatives of the Central External Relations Commission, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Parliamentarians' Group, leaders and representatives of a number of branches and members of the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association.
Chairman of the United Russia Party, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Vietnam Gennady Bezdetko, and members of the United Russia Party Delegation attended the meeting.
Mr. Dmitry Medvedev expressed his pleasure to visit Vietnam and appreciated the activities of the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association, contributing to cooperation and expanding friendly relations between the two countries.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang affirmed that the Party, State and people of Vietnam always remember with deep gratitude the great and wholehearted support and assistance that the former Soviet Union and the Russian Federation later gave to Vietnam during the struggle for national independence and reunification as well as in the cause of national construction and defense today.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang also said that both sides need to preserve and deepen the loyal and pure friendship between Vietnam and Russia.
He also expressed his belief that in the coming time, the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association will continue to closely coordinate with the Russia - Vietnam Friendship Association and other people's organizations of the two countries to promote the role of a bridge of friendship, contributing to bringing the Vietnam - Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to new heights, bringing practical benefits to the people of the two countries, contributing to peace, stability and development in the region and the world.

Mr. Medvedev also affirmed that the traditional cooperative relationship between Vietnam and the Russian Federation does not depend on changes in the times.
He also thanked the valuable contributions of the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association and its members and emphasized the important role of friendship organizations of the two countries in strengthening and developing Vietnam - Russian Federation relations.
At the meeting, the President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, Ms. Nguyen Phuong Nga, introduced the activities of the friendship organizations of the two countries and the future direction, with special attention paid to the participation of young people so that the young generations of the two countries can continue the tradition of their ancestors in strengthening the friendship between the two peoples, deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
Delegates representing those who have studied and worked in Russia and young members of the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Association shared their profound memories of the Russian people and country, and their thoughts on the long-standing traditional friendship between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.
The delegates affirmed that they will continue to make efforts to preserve and foster the friendship between the people of the two countries, creating a solid foundation for the continuous development of Vietnam-Russian Federation relations.
