For many months, people and tourists have been "shivering" when traveling on Hoa Do Quyen Street, the road connecting Lien Khuong - Prenn highway to Tuyen Lam Lake National Tourist Area as well as to Da Lat City, because this road has a crooked embankment section that could collapse at any time.
The embankment... waiting to collapse
The road was previously an internal road in and out of the tourist area, but since February 2023, when Prenn Pass "closed" to traffic to serve the construction of upgrading and expansion, Hoa Do Quyen Street and Mimosa Pass became the two main roads in and out of Da Lat in the direction of National Highway 20.
Therefore, the embankment... waiting to collapse becomes a lurking danger to the lives and property of people and tourists.
Rhododendron Flower Street has a lot of traffic.
According to records at the scene, the embankment is close to the road, at the section passing through Darahoa village, about 100m long, of which the middle section has a section made of stone cages about 50m long, more than 3m high and moving outward, crooked.
At both ends of the slope, the authorities have put up signs and ropes (of the stone gabion section) to warn passersby. While the weather in Da Lat this season is unusual, with frequent heavy rains, it is impossible to predict when this slope will slide or collapse.
The section made of stone gabions is showing signs of shifting and tilting.
Regarding the incident, on July 27, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee said that it had issued a document requesting the Tuyen Lam Lake National Tourism Area Management Board to urgently complete documents and procedures to implement the construction of this slope section (starting in the third quarter of 2023).
Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee also assigned the Department of Transport to direct the road management unit to coordinate with the Tourist Area Management Board to regularly inspect, monitor and assess the risk of landslides on Hoa Do Quyen road, especially at the above-mentioned slope section to promptly warn and ensure traffic safety.
Functional units put up signs and ropes to warn of landslide risk on embankment sections.
At the same time, coordinate with the Provincial Police and the Tourist Area Management Board to develop and proactively implement a traffic diversion plan in case of landslides at the above-mentioned embankment and traffic cannot pass through Hoa Do Quyen Street.
