According to Mr. Nguyen Van Kien, the yellow apricot tree is a very valuable traditional ornamental tree that is loved by ornamental tree players to grow and display in their yards every Tet holiday because the tree implies luck and prosperity for the homeowner.
In addition, the yellow apricot tree is also a suitable plant variety for the soil conditions of Go Cong Tay district. It is quite easy to grow. You just need to know how to prevent and control stem borers and leaf-eating worms and fertilize and water the tree adequately so that it can grow well all year round.
Mr. Nguyen Van Kien, a yellow apricot farmer in Dong Son commune, Go Cong Tay district, Tien Giang province, takes care of his yellow apricot garden.
Currently, Mr. Nguyen Van Kien's family has more than 1 hectare of land with all the yellow apricot trees that have taken shape. Mr. Kien said that he often chooses to build mounds, the mounds are more than 0.5 meters apart, then he adds organic fertilizers such as coconut fiber, goat manure, and composted cow manure. Occasionally, he adds DAP fertilizer to give the yellow apricot trees enough nutrients.

This year, according to him, due to the influence of heavy rain and high humidity, some of the yellow apricot trees in his family near the canal bank have bloomed early.However, the number of yellow apricot trees that bloom early is not much, he will let the trees bloom and continue to treat them to nourish the trees for the next crop, the remaining number of more than 2,000 yellow apricot trees, he will continue to take care of, tighten water moderately, watch for buds to bloom and proceed to strip leaves from the 10th to the 15th of the 12th lunar month, waiting for the trees to bud and green buds to be sold regularly to markets in and outside the district.
The main market for yellow apricot trees of Dong Son commune yellow apricot growers is mainly from traders ordering to display and sell at Spring Flower Markets in various places in Tien Giang province.
In addition, yellow apricot growers also boldly connect with friends in the ornamental flower industry in Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, or Long An, Dong Thap provinces... In addition, he is also a gathering place for traders to collect yellow apricot trees to transport to Hanoi to introduce, exchange, and trade on the occasion of the traditional Tet holiday every year.
Currently, the average price of a yellow apricot tree depends on its size, unique roots, and beautiful shape, it will be more expensive than average trees. Mr. Kien said, on average, a yellow apricot tree with a round crown and over 5 years old will cost from 4-5 million VND, the older the tree, the more beautiful the roots, the price will be from tens of millions of VND to hundreds of millions of VND/tree.
Usually, he will take good care of such valuable yellow apricot trees and keep them to beautify his yard and wait until they are “valuable” to exchange or trade. He roughly estimates that in his garden there are over 20 valuable old yellow apricot trees that he is taking special care of.

According to the Department of Agriculture of Dong Son commune, up to now, the entire Dong Son commune, Go Cong Tay district (Tien Giang province) has more than 25 hectares of raw yellow apricot trees, bringing a stable economic source for many farmers.
In addition, recently, many farmers in Thanh Cong, Binh Phu, Thanh Nhut, Long Binh, Binh Tan communes have also been planting yellow apricot trees on trial at the foot of their fields. This has contributed significantly to diversifying production models in accordance with the spirit of the national target program on new rural construction, which has been widely promoted among the people.
