A typical example of successful goby farming in rice fields in Bac Lieu is the household of Mr. Lo Vu Phong, a farmer in Phuoc Ninh hamlet, Phuoc Long commune (Phuoc Long district) who has an income of 400 - 500 million VND/year from this model.
With 50 hectares of rice production land, Mr. Phong uses 10 hectares to make nursery ponds and water storage ponds, the rest applies the rice - goby - shrimp - crab model.
In 2021, Mr. Phong raised goby fish in the first rice crop. He released about 35,000 goby fish fry in 10 hectares of rice fields.
After a period of raising goby fish in rice fields, Mr. Phong harvested and sold them for 35 million VND.
In the second goby crop, Mr. Phong learned from his experience and raised 100,000 goby fry in 40 hectares of rice fields and earned 160 million VND.

According to Mr. Phong, to make the model of raising climbing perch in rice fields effective, in early May he brought water into the fields and used chemicals to kill miscellaneous fish.
By mid-May, he caught goby fish fry to raise and release when there was a lot of rain, which was most suitable.
In July, Mr. Lo Vu Phong sowed rice and after harvesting the rice, he started harvesting goby fish.
