Within the framework of the UNESCO-APEID conference, Ms. Le An Na delivered a speech on the topic: “Innovation and entrepreneurship: Situation and context in Vietnam, especially in the field of higher education and colleges”. Ms. Le An Na was also the only representative from Vietnam to speak at this event.

The 10th UNESCO-APEID Conference on Entrepreneurship Education, themed “The Future of Youth and Entrepreneurship Education,” took place from October 9-12 at Alfraganus University, Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The conference attracted leaders, educators, policy makers, entrepreneurs and researchers from around the world.

In her speech, Master Le An Na focused on sharing the challenges, opportunities and initiatives that have been implemented to develop the startup ecosystem in Vietnamese education.

According to her, the startup movement in Vietnam has never been as developed as it is now with the participation of most ministries, branches, organizations and localities. To develop the startup movement of innovation and creativity of young people and intellectuals, Vietnam has its own special policies. The State understands that youth innovation and startups will start from university and college students. Therefore, many policies have been issued to encourage creativity, especially young talents from universities and research institutes, as well as special policies to support them in developing creative ideas into commercialized products.

According to her, developing a startup ecosystem including the State, investors, businesses and universities with the participation of students and lecturers will be a comprehensive way to develop the startup ecosystem in Vietnam.

To do this, the pioneering role of universities in carrying out the mission of innovation and entrepreneurship to provide society with factors equipped with the necessary thinking and skills, along with applied research results to solve specific problems for the market, bringing value to society must be emphasized more than ever.

In her speech, Ms. Le An Na also pointed out the direction for entrepreneurship education in Vietnam. She said that it is necessary to innovate training programs at universities. The curriculum needs to be redesigned to integrate practical activities, such as real projects and internships, to provide students with practical experience and knowledge applicable in the startup environment. Educational institutions need to proactively connect with businesses, creating conditions for students to gain practical experience through extracurricular activities.

Building a complete startup ecosystem needs to be emphasized. Government agencies and financial institutions must focus on investing in more necessary startup infrastructure, including incubation centers and venture capital funds. In addition, venture capital funds play an important role in providing capital to startups, helping them have financial resources to develop and expand their operations.
