Female doctor hit by falling glass has returned to work at K Hospital

On the morning of September 30, Prof. Dr. Le Van Quang - Director of K Hospital - along with the leaders of Tan Trieu General Radiology Department and colleagues congratulated resident physician Hoang Minh Ly on her recovery after a period of treatment and rehabilitation, and officially returning to work.

After the rare accident that occurred in April at a coffee shop in Hanoi , Dr. Ly's health has now recovered.

The leaders of K Hospital have created conditions and arranged work suitable to Dr. Ly's health condition so that he can return to work as desired.

Dr. Ly shared her wish to continue working at the Tan Trieu General Radiology Department (Radiation Department 5, K Hospital), where she previously worked.

Mr. Quang said the hospital will create maximum conditions so that doctors can be more convenient while working in the department.

"From the means of transportation such as electric wheelchairs to working positions... everything has been arranged in advance by the department. This morning, Dr. Ly participated in examining patients at the Tan Trieu General Radiology Department. After Dr. Ly returns to work, the hospital will assign appropriate work based on the actual situation. Dr. Ly can continue to examine and treat patients at the department or participate in other work such as scientific research, directing the line... " - Mr. Quang shared.

Expressing his gratitude to the hospital leaders and colleagues on his first day back to work, Dr. Ly emotionally shared: "This encouragement is the motivation for me to overcome, recover better and today can be here working with my colleagues. I hope to be able to contribute a small part of my efforts to continue examining and treating patients, bringing hope to many patients."

Resident doctor Hoang Minh Ly (29 years old, hometown in Dien Dong, Dien Chau, Nghe An ) graduated as a resident oncologist, working at K Hospital, Tan Trieu facility. Not long after taking up the job, an unfortunate accident happened to her.

During the stormy night of April 20, due to the wind, a tempered glass panel of the coffee shop broke and collapsed, hitting Dr. Ly. The accident was extremely rare but had very serious consequences.

Doctor Ly suffered multiple injuries, multiple fractures of the vertebrae, spinal cord injury causing complete paralysis of both legs, multiple rib fractures causing closed chest trauma, bilateral hemothorax, grade 4 liver injury, and grade 2 spleen injury.

After the above rare accident, Dr. Ly's health has shown many positive developments. After 5 months of treatment, undergoing many surgeries (chest, digestive, kidney and urinary tract, spinal trauma) and rehabilitation, with extraordinary determination and the dedicated help of the medical team, Dr. Ly has shown good signs of health, returning to work with joy and the welcome of his colleagues.
