Sharing with Dan Tri reporter, Meritorious Artist Do Ky said he was sad and disappointed when he received the notice that he had failed the People's Artist title.
Accordingly, on November 21, he received a document signed by Acting Director of the Department of Performing Arts Tran Ly Ly, informing him that his application for the title of People's Artist had been stopped.
The reason the file was shelved was clearly stated in the document as due to a complaint and the opinion of the Ministry of Public Security, it did not meet the conditions to be proposed for the title of People's Artist.
"I don't know who sent the petition and what they said? If I want to know what the content is and want to clarify the content of the petition, who should I contact and explain to? If the content of the petition is not true, is the petitioner guilty of slander?
For more than 40 years in the profession, I have always been an artist devoted to art. This is not about stopping the application for the title of People's Artist, but also about my personal honor and reputation. I am completely unsatisfied with the document that the Department of Performing Arts sent me," said artist Do Ky.
The male artist added that he is not someone who is greedy for fame or title, but there are still people who are jealous and envious of him.
"But I want everything to be clear, why don't the authorities contact me to hear the explanation and clarify? That makes me ask many questions about the transparency in the review process," the male artist frankly said.
Meritorious Artist Tran Ly Ly - Acting Director of the Department of Performing Arts said - The Department is only the unit that receives instructions from the Central Emulation and Reward Board, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and sends notice to artist Do Ky. The review of the file at the high level is the Central Emulation and Reward Board, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Accordingly, Meritorious Artist Do Ky has 40 years of experience, including 26 years with the Vietnam Drama Theater and 14 years working at the Department of Performing Arts.
During those 14 years, the application for the title of Meritorious Artist was also made at the grassroots Council level, the Department of Performing Arts, and the application for the title of People's Artist was also made at the Department of Performing Arts.
Meritorious Artist Do Ky was born in 1961 in Hanoi. In 1982, he graduated from the first Actor Training Class of the Vietnam Drama Theater and joined the army, joining the army with artists Trung Anh, Trong Trinh, Quoc Khanh...
He is known through the TV series: Huong Dat, Nep Nha, Nguoi Phan Xu, Ngoi Villa Mau Tro Lanh,... Before being the Head of the Art Department, Department of Performing Arts, he was the Deputy Director of the Vietnam Drama Theater. In 2022, he officially retired.
