On the evening of December 1, Mr. Do Ky confirmed that he had just received a new notice from the Department of Performing Arts (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) regarding the results of the appraisal of the application for the 10th People's Artist title.
The announcement stated: "Receiving Official Dispatch No. 5100 dated November 22, 2023 of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on the announcement of the results of the appraisal of the application for the 10th People's Artist title, the Department of Performing Arts - Grassroots Council for the award of the People's Artist title hereby announces the application of Meritorious Artist, Director Pham Do Ky as follows:
This file was temporarily left behind by the Central Emulation and Reward Committee to the Prime Minister because the individual submitted a petition and did not meet the conditions and standards to be considered for the 10th People's Artist title.
Meritorious Artist Do Ky received notice for the second time that he had failed to receive the title of People's Artist.
Thus, this is the second time Meritorious Artist Do Ky has received notice of his "failure" to be considered for the 10th People's Artist title.
On November 22, Meritorious Artist Do Ky received a notice from the Department of Performing Arts (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) that his application for the title of People's Artist had been suspended. According to the notice the actor received, the reason his application was suspended was because there was a complaint and an opinion from the Ministry of Public Security, so he did not meet the requirements to be considered for the title of People's Artist.
Meritorious Artist Do Ky said that this announcement affects his reputation and honor, so he will investigate the matter thoroughly: " I want to clarify this because it affects my personal reputation and honor, but I am not satisfied with the document sent to me by the Department of Performing Arts. If I had violated anything to the extent that I needed to be disciplined, the Department of Performing Arts, the grassroots council, would not have reviewed and submitted my file to the ministerial council. I feel that I have absolutely no right to protect my honor - the most basic human right."
After that, he made a petition to the competent authorities to consider and answer questions, to restore prestige and honor to him and his family.
Meritorious Artist Do Ky held the position of Deputy Director of the Vietnam Drama Theater from 2001 to 2008, and staged a number of the Theater's typical plays such as: Blue Chrysanthemums on the Swamp (1999), Looking for What's Not Lost (2003), Soldier's Trifles (2005)... Most recently, in 2022, the male artist staged Thien Menh - a play that caused a big stir in the theater world.
Since 2008, Meritorious Artist Do Ky has been working at the Department of Performing Arts. In 2022, Meritorious Artist Do Ky will officially retire according to the regime.
