Agriculture, forestry and fishery have a trade surplus of more than 9.4 billion USD, these are the 3 largest markets of Vietnam

In July 2024 alone, agricultural, forestry and fishery exports reached 5.11 billion USD, up 18.2% over the same period last year.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that the total export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products in the first 7 months of 2024 reached 34.27 billion USD, up 18.8% over the same period last year. The trade surplus of agricultural, forestry and fishery products reached 9.42 billion USD, up 60%.

In July alone, agricultural, forestry and fishery exports reached 5.11 billion USD, up 18.2% over the same period last year; of which, main agricultural products were 2.62 billion USD (up 25.2%), forestry products were 1.4 billion USD (up 15.8%), aquatic products were 880 million USD (up 13.2%), and livestock was 47.4 million USD (up 9.3%).

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the contribution to the 7-month results was due to the increase in most commodity groups. Specifically: agricultural products reached 18.21 billion USD, up 23.4%; forestry products 9.41 billion USD, up 21.1%; aquatic products 5.29 billion USD, up 7.3%; livestock 288 million USD, up 4.8%.

Some items with high export value include: wood and wood products with 8.78 billion USD, up 21.9% over the same period last year; coffee 3.54 billion USD, up 30.9% while export output decreased by 13.8%.

Rice exports reached 3.27 billion USD, up 25.1%; export output reached 5.18 million tons, up 5.8%. Cashew exports reached 2.37 billion USD, up 22.1% with a volume of 424,000 tons, up 26.4%. Vegetables and fruits reached 3.83 billion USD, up 24.3%; shrimp 2 billion USD, up 7.5%; tra fish 1.02 billion USD, up 7.1%.

In particular, the average export price of many commodities continued to have good growth such as: rice reached 632 USD/ton, up 18.2% over the same period last year; coffee 3,669 USD/ton, up 51.7%; rubber 1,555 USD/ton, up 14.8%; pepper 4,665 USD/ton, up 45%; tea 1,728 USD/ton, up 1.6%.

Regarding export markets, the US, China and Japan continue to be the three largest export markets for Vietnamese agricultural, forestry and fishery products; of which export value to the US increased by 21.6%, China increased by 11.3% and Japan increased by 4%.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that it continues to address market issues to facilitate the export of agricultural, forestry and fishery products; typically, it is implementing projects to promote the export of agricultural, forestry and fishery products to markets such as China, the US, Japan, and the EU. Functional units are actively opening new markets with great potential such as Halal Muslim countries, the Middle East, Africa, etc.

The Ministry monitors and grasps the situation of prices and supply of essential food items; coordinates with localities to support connections, promote processing and consumption of agricultural products during the harvest season.

Along with that, there are forums to support connections in agricultural product consumption; seminars to disseminate information, market regulations and consumer tastes, and connections in consumption through the system of trade and agricultural counselors in markets; domestic retail distribution chains, and e-commerce platforms for agricultural products and OCOP products.
