Localities in Ha Tinh are focusing on directing farmers to take advantage of favorable weather, quickly prune and fertilize the first crop, helping spring rice grow and develop well.

This spring crop, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nguyet's family (Dong Vinh village, Cam Vinh commune, Cam Xuyen) directly sowed more than 7 sao of rice of various types such as Bac Thinh, Khang Dan, Huong Binh... The late rice planting period encountered a severe cold spell, so the germination rate decreased sharply compared to the same period last year. Therefore, her family is urgently implementing pruning to ensure the density according to the recommendations of the industry.

Ms. Nguyet shared: “With many years of production experience, my family has proactively bought more seeds to spread, serving the pruning and replanting process. Taking advantage of the warm sunny weather and abundant irrigation water, we strive to complete pruning and combine the first fertilization for spring rice by the end of this week.”

Along with farmers in Cam Vinh commune, people in communes and towns in Cam Xuyen district are also speeding up the first pruning and top dressing on an area of 9,560 hectares of rice of all kinds. Mr. Le Ngoc Ha - Vice Chairman of Cam Xuyen District People's Committee said: "With the largest rice production area in the province, in the spring crop of 2024, the locality sets a target of rice output of 54,000 tons, yield of 6 tons/ha. To ensure a "sure win" crop, the District People's Committee has developed a spring rice production project with a proactive and practical spirit. To create favorable conditions for people to carry out pruning combined with the first spring rice fertilization, the district has coordinated with Nam Ha Tinh Irrigation Company Limited and directed communes and towns to operate pumping stations, regulate irrigation water sources and appropriate canal systems".

In the spring crop of 2024, the whole Thach Ha district planted 7,970 hectares of rice. The main varieties that the district prioritized for selection were: Nep 98, Lai Thom 6, Bac Thinh, Ha Phat 3, MHC2, HD11, HaNa 7, Huong Binh...

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Duy - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Thach Ha district, the spring crop is the main crop, so to ensure success in rice productivity and output, right from the beginning of the crop, the district issued an official dispatch directing localities to implement technical measures according to the recommendations of the professional sector. In particular, for communes with difficulties in irrigation water sources such as Viet Tien, Thach Kenh, Thach Khe..., the District People's Committee proactively coordinated to develop and implement a plan to regulate water sources reasonably, helping farmers complete pruning and fertilizing according to the schedule recommended by the professional sector.

In the spring crop of 2024, Ha Tinh will produce 59,107 hectares of rice of all kinds. According to the plan, by February 28, 2024, local authorities at all levels and specialized agencies will direct farmers to complete pruning and combine the first fertilization for rice plants.

For areas with difficulties in irrigation water sources, localities need to have proactive solutions in regulating water sources, maintaining appropriate water levels on rice fields, creating favorable conditions for rice to grow well.

In the current foggy and humid weather conditions in Ha Tinh, localities need to proactively investigate, detect, estimate and forecast pests right from the beginning of the season, focusing on pests such as leaf blast disease, rice stem borer flies... At the same time, step up propaganda and mobilize farmers to regularly stay close to their fields, closely monitor the development of rice blast disease to proactively detect and have timely prevention solutions, avoiding widespread outbreaks that harm spring rice.
