Talking about his motivation to take the TOEIC test, Nam Long (Tran Dai Nghia Secondary School - High School for the Gifted - Ho Chi Minh City) shared that his father is the one who always "urges" him to try his hand at every field and activity. 2 years ago, when he was a 4th grader, Nam Long achieved a TOEIC score of 900/990. Now he can communicate in English fluently and confidently like a native speaker.
Don't take English as a subject

Nam Long became familiar with basic English when he was less than 2 years old. At the age of 5, his father let him study with a "neighbor" teacher right in the apartment building where his family lived. Since then, Nam Long has shown his talent for learning English. He revealed: "I loved English the first time I came into contact with foreigners."
Mr. Nguyen Binh Nam - the boy's father, was quite surprised when his 6-year-old son could already converse in English with his friends. He was the one who guided Long to learn foreign languages, encouraging his children to communicate in English with each other from a young age.
Maintaining that habit when entering first grade, Nam Long and his friends in the same apartment building still communicated in English as if they were studying at an international school. In second grade, Nam Long's father sent him to a foreign language center, but after a short time, he dropped out because he had mastered the knowledge he had learned before.
The family also asked for Long to study "ahead" of his older siblings in grades 4 and 5, but the center did not agree. Since then, Nam Long has said no to extra classes.
For the past 10 years, the boy has mainly learned English through videos on Youtube. Being an intelligent and inquisitive boy, Nam Long quickly conquered English. “Learning while playing, playing while learning” is the secret that helps this 6th grader achieve high results when approaching a new language.
Nam Long plans to take the IELTS test this summer. “I hope to get a score above 7.5,” Nam Long said, revealing that in two years he will be determined to achieve a perfect score of 990/990 on the TOEIC.

Use English to learn programming
In addition to English, Nam Long also loves IT. When he was a primary school student, he developed his IT skills thanks to his father's tutoring. Being introduced to programming by his father since first grade, Nam Long now possesses a coding mindset that is "on par" with working people.
In addition to his father's guidance, the boy also regularly watches foreign teachers' programming lectures on Youtube. The process of Long learning about programming is also the time when he improves his foreign language skills.
As soon as he could write Vietnamese, Nam Long was able to write game instructions entirely in English. Although there were some spelling mistakes, that was not something that any 6-year-old boy could do.
After 3 years of studying programming, Nam Long is completely confident in becoming an online programming "teacher" for some overseas Vietnamese in Canada and Australia.
Besides English and IT, this boy also shows talent in many other fields. He participates in competitions related to Math and Science and wins many awards. In addition, this 6th grader also has a talent for art.
In his free time, Nam Long does not go to extra classes. Instead, he participates in sports such as badminton, table tennis, or learns more about history and geography.
Nam Long hopes to study abroad when he enters high school, then return to continue his family business. When asked "What is your dream?" , the 12-year-old boy gave a surprisingly mature answer. "I don't want to set any goals for myself that are more than a year away. I think that will hinder my creativity," Nam Long said.
