The severed right hand of a 54-year-old female patient was successfully reattached by doctors at Thanh Hoa General Hospital after 6 hours of surgery.
On November 14, information from Thanh Hoa General Hospital said that after 3 weeks of surgery to reattach a severed hand, female patient PTL (54 years old, residing in But Son Town, Hoang Hoa District, Thanh Hoa) was discharged from the hospital in normal condition.
The patient's severed hand was successfully reattached.

About 3 weeks ago, female patient L. was admitted to the hospital with her right hand severed after falling and hitting a knife blade. At the time of admission, the patient was in a state of hemorrhagic shock.
Doctors from the Department of Orthopedics and Burns, Thanh Hoa General Hospital, performed hand reattachment surgery, suturing tendons, blood vessels and nerves to the hand. The surgery took about 6 hours to complete.
After surgery, the anastomosis was dry, the patient's reattached hand recovered well, the right hand was warm and pink and had sensation, and the fingers moved gently. About 3 weeks after surgery, the patient was discharged from the hospital and was instructed by the doctors to continue rehabilitation exercises so that the reattached hand could recover almost to normal.
Doctor Hoang Tuan Long, Deputy Head of the Department of Orthopedics and Burns, Thanh Hoa General Hospital, said that severed arms or legs are serious injuries that not only threaten the patient's life but also affect their future life.
According to Dr. Long, Thanh Hoa General Hospital has successfully applied the technique of reattaching severed limbs, helping many patients return to normal life.
