On August 16, the People's Committee of Ninh Thuan province informed about the rules of the contest "Designing Cham ceramic products as gifts of Ninh Thuan province", held from December 5-31, with a total prize of 24 million VND.
According to the People's Committee of Ninh Thuan province, this is a contest to select Cham ceramic products to use as gifts in the province's foreign affairs events; contribute to promoting and developing the province's diplomatic relations, to promote the artistic creativity of artists and ceramic artisans in the field of creating and producing Cham ceramics, contributing to improving the lives of potters, increasing the value and enriching the image and brand identity of Cham ceramics.
This is also a practical and meaningful activity for the process of preserving and promoting the value of Cham pottery art, which has been recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage in need of urgent protection.

According to the contest rules, the entries must be created using realistic methods from traditional Cham materials, and must be fully crafted or simulated in a 1:1 scale.
The Organizing Committee will evaluate and score based on criteria such as creativity; applicability and symbolism. Priority will be given to products participating in the contest that meet the requirements of aesthetics, luxury, applicability, high durability, suitable size; artisans of Bau Truc Cham pottery village can mass produce many products.
Currently, the Cham people in Ninh Thuan province still maintain the traditional pottery craft in Bau Truc pottery village, Ninh Phuoc district. Cham pottery products are produced to serve the consumption and religious needs of the community as well as to be used as gifts and to decorate works of art.
Cham pottery making is not simply a production technique, creating specific products, but it also contains many secrets, skills, and experiences passed down from generation to generation to form an art, which is "Cham pottery art".
With the recognized values of Cham pottery art, on November 29, 2022, UNESCO officially listed "Cham pottery art on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding".
Cham ceramic products are completely handcrafted, highly unique with Cham cultural characteristics that cannot be confused with ceramic products elsewhere.
In May 2024, the People's Committee of Ninh Thuan province also issued an official dispatch encouraging provincial Party and mass organizations; departments, branches, sectors and People's Committees of districts and cities to pay attention to selecting and using Cham ceramic products as gifts for delegates and guests attending important events of their agencies, units and localities to promote the introduction and promotion of Cham ceramic products and art which have been recognized by UNESCO in the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding.
Specifically, the Ninh Thuan Provincial People's Committee proposed 6 products: Lucky God Ganesha; ceramic vases decorated by artists; Apsara statues; Po Klong Garai tower complex with 3 towers: Main tower, gate tower, fire tower; Po Klong Garai tower; two-handle vases, as gifts for 3 groups of guests when visiting and working in Ninh Thuan, including guests who are foreigners, diplomatic agencies; guests who are ministries, central branches and leaders of provinces and cities.
