Speaking at the ceremony to honor Vietnamese doctors and award the 6th Silent Sacrifice writing contest on the evening of February 26, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan shared: “At this moment, as we sit here, hundreds of thousands of doctors, nurses, and medical staff are still on duty at hospital beds, in emergency rooms, or at people's homes in remote border areas and islands. There are scientists working hard in the laboratory. There are preventive medicine officers, population officers working hard to fulfill their duties to take care of people's health.”
The Minister informed about the lung transplant on the 30th of the Lunar New Year, the surgery lasted 12 hours. Those were 12 hours of mental and physical exertion to hold on to life, to revive a life. And 12 hours after the surgery, the 21-year-old girl woke up and breathed the first breaths of her two new lungs in the first days of the new year. That miraculous breath of revival also marked a great milestone recognizing the remarkable progress of the doctors at the Central Lung Hospital in particular and Vietnamese doctors in general.
Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan expressed gratitude to the medical staff of the entire sector.
And more than a week ago, the baby in the first fetal heart intervention in Vietnam, jointly performed by Children's Hospital 1 and Tu Du Hospital, was discharged amid the overwhelming happiness of his family and doctors. The doctors courageously did something unprecedented, courageously creating historical milestones in the country's healthcare.
The head of the health sector expressed gratitude to the entire health sector: “Thank you comrades for always being resilient, overcoming difficulties, being creative, daring to think and dare to do to achieve proud results. Thank you comrades for silently sacrificing day and night to serve the people and serve the Fatherland.”
According to Minister Dao Hong Lan, over the past 69 years, keeping in mind the teachings of beloved President Ho Chi Minh - "A good doctor must be like a mother", doctors, cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers in the health sector have constantly strived, overcome all difficulties and challenges, and strived to excellently fulfill the tasks entrusted to them by the Party, the State, and the people. The health system continues to be consolidated, expanded, and developed; the health sector strives to innovate to achieve greater patient satisfaction.
The Ministry of Health has focused on reviewing and perfecting the legal system to create favorable conditions for implementing the sector's activities on disease prevention, medical examination and treatment, and improving the quality of grassroots health care activities. Medical examination and treatment and the quality of health services are increasingly improved.
According to the Minister of Health, the silent sacrifices of the Vietnamese medical team are immeasurable.
In addition, the health sector also faces many difficulties and challenges due to changing disease patterns, along with emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, many non-communicable diseases, health emergencies, natural disasters, environmental pollution, population aging, etc.
The Minister said that despite many difficulties, we have a strong belief that: Implementing the Party's correct guidelines, with the resolute direction of the Government, the supervision of the National Assembly, the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations, the support and coordination of ministries, departments, branches and authorities at all levels, international organizations, the consensus of the people, the entire team of cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers in the health sector strive to practice medical ethics and expertise to increasingly better fulfill the noble mission of the sector.
“The silent sacrifices of the Vietnamese medical team are immeasurable. Their efforts cannot be described in words. The heart, mind and strength of the doctors have been, are and will always be devoted to the patients. Those contributions are recognized and encouraged by society,” Minister Dao Hong Lan expressed.
On the occasion of Vietnamese Doctors' Day, February 27, on behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of Health, Minister Dao Hong Lan sent best wishes to Vietnamese doctors, along with all cadres, civil servants, employees and workers of all periods. "Thank you for the contributions of doctors to the cause of protecting, caring for and improving people's health, contributing to the process of building and developing the health sector", the Minister emphasized.
At the program, in addition to honoring the medical staff on the occasion of Vietnamese Doctors' Day, February 27, the Organizing Committee awarded prizes to 15 works that reached the final round of the 6th "Silent Sacrifice" writing contest, including: 1 Special Prize; 1 First Prize; 2 Second Prizes; 5 Third Prizes and 6 Encouragement Prizes.
The Special Prize worth 80 million VND went to the work “The talented hands of a doctor who dares to do difficult things, reviving unfortunate lives” by author Ngo Anh Van (Health and Life Newspaper). The First Prize was the reportage “Vaccine Research Journey” by the Central Documentary and Scientific Film Studio. In addition, all the works that made it to the final round, including the winning works, were published in a book titled “The VI Silent Sacrifice” .
