Many candidates with 27 - 28 points may still fail the high school graduation exam.

According to the regulations, candidates with failing scores (1 or lower) will not be eligible for high school graduation , even if they achieve very high scores in the groups and are qualified to be admitted to any university.

However, there are many cases where candidates get very high combined scores but some subjects only get 1 point or less.

For example, in block A, there were two cases where candidates from Hanoi scored 27.3 - 27.35 points respectively but only scored 0 and 1 point in Biology. Similarly, in Nghe An, a candidate scored 26.45 points but only scored 1 point in Biology.

In block A1, there was a case of a candidate in Ho Chi Minh City who scored 27.1 points but got 0 points in Biology.

In group B, there was a candidate in Ho Chi Minh City who scored 26.7 points but only got 1 point in Physics. In addition, there was also a candidate from Hai Phong who scored 26.65 points but got 1 point in Physics; a candidate in Thanh Hoa also scored 26.4 points but only got 0.25 points in Physics.

In block C, many candidates achieved 27.25 - 28.75 points but their Foreign Language or Civic Education scores were 0 points.

These candidates may be independent candidates who have graduated in previous years and only take some of the component subjects in the combined exam for university and college admission. In addition, they may also be exempted from the Foreign Language exam (in the case of candidates with a score of 0 in the Foreign Language subject) and therefore do not take the exam. If they do not fall into the above cases, even if they get a high score, they still fail to graduate.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training, the whole country had 585 failed exams (scores of 1 or lower) in the 2024 high school graduation exam. Of which, the highest number of failed scores was in English, followed by Geography.

According to plan, the recognition of high school graduation in 2024 will be completed no later than July 19.

Candidates can submit an application for review of their exam results from July 17 to 26. By July 23 at the latest, high schools will issue temporary graduation certificates, print and send exam result certificates to candidates.

From July 18 to 5:00 p.m. on July 30, candidates can register, adjust, and add admission wishes an unlimited number of times. From July 22 to 5:00 p.m. on July 31, candidates applying for direct admission must confirm their admission on the system (if any).

From July 31 to 5:00 p.m. on August 6, candidates pay admission fees according to the number of admission wishes online, following the instructions of the Ministry of Education and Training.

Before 5:00 p.m. on August 19, training institutions will notify candidates who have passed the first round of admission and before 5:00 p.m. on August 27, candidates will confirm their admission online for the first round on the system.
