Compared to the price of textbooks for the old program (87,000 VND/set), the price of new grade 4 textbooks is about 3 times higher, similar to the new price of textbooks for grades 3, 7 and 10 last year. The price of textbooks for grades 8 and 11 also has a similar increase between the new and old programs.

According to statistics, the price of a set of 4th grade textbooks ranges from 182,000 VND/set to 230,000 VND/set (excluding English books).

Grade 8 textbooks from 186,000 VND/set to 268,000 VND/set (excluding English books)

Grade 11 textbooks range from VND 130,000/set to VND 167,000/set (excluding English books, local education books and excluding elective subjects and topics).

According to regulations, before releasing textbooks to the market, publishers and book compilation units must declare the retail prices of textbooks for grades 4, 8, and 11 to the Price Management Department (Ministry of Finance) according to regulations.

The new general education program will be applied from the 2020-2021 school year. Currently, the program is applied to grades 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, and 10. This September, it will be the turn of grades 4, 8, and 11, and by 2025, all grades will study according to the new program.

A representative of the Vietnam Education Publishing House said that the publishing house has prepared enough printing paper supplies and implemented synchronous solutions to ensure the supply of textbooks to students before the new school year begins.

For reprinted textbooks (including textbooks for grades 5, 9, and 12 according to the 2000 general education program and textbooks for grades 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, and 10 according to the 2018 general education program), Vietnam Education Publishing House has made efforts to organize printing, warehousing, and prepare for publication from May 1, 2023.

At the stores of the Educational Publishing House and local Book and School Equipment Companies, there are now full reprinted textbooks to serve the learning needs of students.

For new textbooks for grades 4, 8, and 11, the Vietnam Education Publishing House has implemented a plan to purchase printing services widely in accordance with legal regulations and ensure adequate supply of books to localities for distribution for the 2023-2024 school year within the deadline set by the Ministry of Education and Training.
