The Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Son Tra District, Da Nang City, said on March 27 that 39 businesses have committed to letting tourists use their restrooms as public restrooms. This is the "Comfort as home" model, which has been replicated in Da Nang City in previous years.
Business establishments put up "Comfort as home" decals in the restroom area.
This model also helps solve the problem of defecation in coastal areas, Han River, and public places because public toilets in these areas are limited. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, many businesses closed, there were many fluctuations, so the model was suspended for a long time.
Son Tra District People's Committee is the first locality in Da Nang City to relaunch this model, initially applied in the Da Nang beach area and Han River, in 5 wards: An Hai Tay, An Hai Dong, An Hai Bac, Man Thai, Phuoc My.
Public toilets in Vietnam are worse than in Laos?
In March, up to now, 5 wards have mobilized 39 facilities to participate in the "Comfort as home" model with the goal of mobilizing 50 facilities to participate.
Logo decal on the front of the business for visitors to identify
Wards are provided with decals of the "Comfort as home" model logo, provided to businesses and encouraged to participate in the movement. The logo is posted on the front of restaurants, hotels, eateries, spas... in easily recognizable locations or in front of restrooms.
Facility owners and staff are also informed, trained, and equipped with basic foreign language communication skills to guide visitors in using public toilets.
