The Ho Chi Minh Prize and the State Prize for Literature and Arts in 2022 were awarded to 128 authors and co-authors. The award ceremony took place on May 19, 2023 at the Opera House (Hanoi), chaired by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Four months after the award ceremony, many authors reported that they had not received their prize money. Writer Nguyen Van Tho and his younger brother, director and People's Artist Nguyen Thuoc, who received the State Prize for Literature and Arts in this award ceremony, have not been contacted to receive their prize.

Writer Nguyen Van Tho said he had reported the matter to the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and received information that the Ministry "had fulfilled its responsibilities". The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized an award ceremony and sent a document to the Ministry of Finance. However, to date, the Ministry of Finance has not yet presented the award.
The process has been going on for more than four months now, and it is not known when the results will be available. "We have not received any explanation from the Ministry of Finance for the reason for this delay. This is an unnecessary delay," said writer Nguyen Van Tho.
Musician Khanh Vinh - one of 128 authors/co-authors to receive the award in the 2023 award ceremony - told Tien Phong that he has not yet received the prize money.
Decree No. 91/2017/ND-CP dated July 31, 2017 of the Government detailing a number of articles of the Law on Emulation and Commendation stipulates the bonus levels of the Ho Chi Minh Prize and the State Prize.

Accordingly, the Ho Chi Minh Prize for Literature and Arts is awarded with a certificate and a bonus equivalent to 270 times the basic salary. The State Prize for Literature and Arts is awarded with a certificate and a bonus equivalent to 170 times the basic salary.
From the above regulations, the bonus received when winning the Ho Chi Minh Prize this time has 2 levels applied including: From January 1 to June 30: bonus level 402.3 million VND. From July 1, the bonus level is 486 million VND/prize.
The Ho Chi Minh Prize and the State Prize for Literature and Arts are allocated in the budget of ministries, ministerial-level agencies, government agencies, and People's Committees of provinces/centrally-run cities according to the provisions of law.
