Consumers "slowly" shop for Tet, supermarkets launch huge promotions

With about a month left until the Lunar New Year 2025, many supermarkets and shopping centers have prepared and stocked goods, ready to serve the peak shopping season of consumers.

Speaking with Van Hoa Newspaper , a representative of AEON Vietnam said that they have carefully prepared goods and expected purchasing power to increase by 5-10% compared to the same period last year.

Among them, Tet gift baskets are still one of the most popular products during Tet. Currently, customers prioritize choosing gift baskets with high quality products, luxurious and compact designs, and can be personalized upon request.

This year's prominent trends include the emergence of products such as wine, organic foods, art, and health care products.

Besides, we cannot fail to mention the essential food group for Tet season, Ao Dai and home decoration products.

However, a representative of AEON Vietnam also said that currently, for food, customers no longer have the habit of stockpiling because many supermarkets and markets operate during Tet. Demand for clean food products, organic food and imported products also increases from 1 month before Tet. During this period, customers pay special attention to prices, promotions and product quality.

Agreeing with this view, Ms. Hoang Thu Huong (Thanh Ha urban area, Kien Hung, Ha Dong, Hanoi) said that now shopping malls, supermarkets, restaurants, and traditional markets are open almost non-stop. Tet usually only closes on the first day, but the remaining goods, especially food, are always available, and people do not stock up for weeks or half a month like before.

To meet the increased shopping demand of customers during Tet, AEON Vietnam aims to ensure abundant supply and stable prices, especially for essential items.

Since October, AEON Vietnam has been working closely with suppliers to plan and stockpile goods. Up to now, the ordering process has been completed.

However, shopping malls and supermarkets have also prepared plans to stockpile goods, ready to meet people's needs. Compared to the same period last year, AEON's stockpiles this year increased by about 5%. Compared to other times of the year, stockpiles are 20-30% higher, even up to 50% higher for popular products during Tet such as Chinese sausage.

AEON Vietnam is also committed to maintaining reasonable prices and providing a wide range of choices for customers. In terms of product categories, the company has increased its stock of essential items such as rice, pork, beef, vegetables, fruits, cakes, jams, beer, and soft drinks.

At the same time, there are a variety of ready-made food products such as banh chung, banh tet, five-fruit trays, and pre-processed products such as hot pot and grill combos... bringing convenience to customers.

In order to provide more choices for customers and promote shopping demand during Tet, AEON Vietnam is implementing an attractive promotion program with discounts of up to 30-40% on many items.

In particular, essential products for Tet such as fresh fruits, candies, Tet gift baskets, meat, and seafood are being offered with increased incentives to meet high consumer demand.

Not only stopping at food, AEON Vietnam also expands promotions to household products such as kitchenware, electrical appliances, and home care products; cosmetics, hygiene products, and personal care; as well as carefully selected electronics and fashion items.

Meanwhile, many other supermarkets managed and operated by Central Retail Vietnam Group such as GO! and Tops Market also launched many promotional programs.

Many consumer products have high preferential prices, Tet specialties such as jelly - candy - jam, fresh food, dried - frozen food, health care - beauty, home care, household appliances are having preferential prices, deep discounts of up to 50%.

In addition, when purchasing orders from 300,000 VND at supermarket systems of Central Retail Vietnam Group, consumers also receive free shipping (within a radius of 7km -10km depending on the area).

According to Ms. Nguyen Thu Ha (Dai Kim, Hoang Mai, Hanoi), the demand for Tet shopping is now saturated, she only buys necessary goods. Besides, not only large supermarket chains but also small retail stores and mini supermarkets also launch many attractive promotions and discounts.

Ms. Nguyen Thu Ha said that for many years now, people tend to go out more than buy food and drinks, so instead of preparing to buy food for Tet, she is "waiting" for promotional tour programs for Tet to buy for the whole family. Therefore, for many years now, her family as well as friends and relatives, if not going out or traveling, also "slowly" shop for Tet.

In order to strengthen the management and stabilization of market prices, especially before, during and after the Lunar New Year, the Ministry of Finance has just issued a document requesting the Price Management Department and the Ministry's functional agencies to closely monitor the developments of supply and demand, market and prices.

Accordingly, it is necessary to update the supply and demand situation and domestic market prices to promptly manage and stabilize market prices, especially before, during and after Tet. Avoid unusual fluctuations that affect economic and social life. Strengthen the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods; strictly control tax declaration, settlement and tax refund.

The Price Management Department is responsible for presiding over and coordinating with units to grasp information and closely monitor developments in supply and demand, markets, and prices, especially for some essential consumer goods and important production materials with large price fluctuations.

At the same time, manage prices appropriately to stabilize market prices and control inflation; preside over the deployment of inspection teams to grasp the implementation of price management and stabilization work in some localities during Tet.

In recent days, with the increasing consumer demand at the end of the year, the situation of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods will become more complicated, the functional forces of Hanoi City are focusing all their efforts on inspecting and controlling the market, ensuring the rights of consumers.

The areas that authorities focus on inspecting and controlling are essential goods and goods in high demand for production, business and consumption during the end of the year and Lunar New Year.

In particular, e-commerce platforms (especially cross-border low-cost trading platforms), social networking sites (Facebook, Zalo, TikTok...) buying and selling online will be inspected and controlled to avoid commercial fraud, buying and selling smuggled goods, counterfeit goods... such as cigarettes, firecrackers, food, cakes, candies, alcohol, beer, functional foods, cosmetics...

According to the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, in addition to the Hanoi Market Management Department, the Hanoi City Steering Committee 389 inspects and strictly handles according to the law the acts of smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, products of unknown origin, not ensuring quality, food safety...

The Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade has also planned and guided production and business establishments to prepare goods of guaranteed quality, origin and source to serve people during the 2025 Lunar New Year.
