Journalists with the mission of spreading the power of national unity

(CLO) Throughout their journey, journalists are not only responsible for propagating and spreading good values, but in each article, they always pay attention to the task of building great national unity... Reporters of the Journalists and Public Opinion Newspaper met with some authors whose outstanding works won awards at the 16th "For the Cause of Great National Unity" Press Award Ceremony, 2023-2024 to better understand that mission.

Contribute to raising awareness of the role of people in monitoring and social criticism

“The Party is subject to the supervision of the people” is a consistent viewpoint throughout the revolutionary leadership of our Party, affirmed in the platforms and resolutions and institutionalized and specified in the regulations of the Party and the State. This is also one of the Party's leadership methods, contributing to controlling power, preventing the degradation of political ideology, ethics and lifestyle of leaders, managers and heads; at the same time affirming the role and position of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and socio-political organizations from the Central to the grassroots level in the revolutionary cause, building and defending the Fatherland.

In practice, this viewpoint has been seriously and creatively implemented by Party committees at all levels, the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations, contributing to promoting the people's mastery and unleashing the strength to build and develop the country. However, there are still difficulties and limitations that have caused the implementation of this viewpoint to be ineffective in many places, at many times and in many fields, which is one of the reasons why the operation of the political system apparatus is not synchronous and effective, and the role of the Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations and the people in building and rectifying the Party and the political system is not respected.

We wrote this article with the desire to affirm and contribute to raising awareness of the role of supervision and social criticism of the people through the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations towards the activities of Party committees and Party members. Through field surveys of many units and localities (from central to local levels and sectors, from large cities and urban areas to remote provinces, from plains to mountains)...

Our article comprehensively and objectively evaluates the results achieved in the implementation of this viewpoint in recent years; thereby discovering and pointing out limitations, inadequacies, and obstacles, and proposing recommendations and solutions to improve mechanisms, policies, and regulations, contributing to making the policy of "the Party under the supervision of the people" truly an important and effective leadership method to meet the requirements of building an increasingly clean and strong Party.

We are very pleased that the Award is a recognition and affirmation of the viewpoint that "the Party is under the supervision of the people" is always relevant.

Journalists with the mission of building national unity

The work "General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong: Man of the People - Man of History" is a special program. The program was produced at a special time, broadcast at a special time. That is the National Mourning Day (July 26, 2024), the day when the Vietnamese people bid farewell to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong - a great personality who passed away... leaving millions of Vietnamese people's hearts choked.

The group of reporters from the News Department, Voice of Vietnam Radio, was assigned to carry out a special program at the exact time of the news of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's passing. We divided ourselves to write the script for the 1-hour program. The groups of reporters were divided to return to Dong Hoi commune, Dong Anh district to explore memories of 70 years ago, under the roof of Hoi Phu communal house, the young student Nguyen Phu Trong and his teachers at the schools... During the process of carrying out the program, we went to the Communist Magazine, where General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong devoted 30 years of his young life to journalism and was attached to journalism.

During the more than 1 hour special program, we demonstrated to the audience the heart of a communist who always cares for the country, for the people, always puts the interests of the people first, that is the "root" to be able to "touch" the "heart of the people", to receive the most precious feelings from the people.

When we made the work, we did not intend to enter it into a contest, but simply, we did it out of our responsibility as journalists, to honor the great contributions of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. For a whole week, we worked very hard from early morning until late at night to broadcast it on time.

When the program was broadcast and received by listeners, we were very happy. We were even happier when the work was awarded a prestigious award for journalists. The award marked the journey of dedication and passion, and was a source of spiritual encouragement, "fueling" us to overcome difficulties to continue to stick with the profession.

Having been a journalist for many years following, reporting and reflecting on the activities of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, I have found that the press has been and is a companion of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in carrying out the task of consolidating and promoting the great national unity bloc. In each article on the cause of great national unity, each reporter and journalist has invested a great deal of time, effort, meticulousness and concern to discover and clarify new issues, reflecting on emulation movements and campaigns launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

Filmed from North to South, in 12 provinces and cities across the country

Solidarity is an extremely precious tradition, creating an invincible source of strength for the country. To promote that spirit, at each historical stage, our Party and State have made timely and correct decisions, strengthening trust and creating consensus among the people. That is the key to helping our country overcome all challenges and dangers.

At the 8th Central Conference, the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong gave a profound summary and assessment after 20 years of implementing Resolution 23-NQ/TU on promoting the tradition of great national solidarity. Notably, immediately after that, the General Secretary launched the book "Promoting the tradition of great national solidarity, building our country to be increasingly rich, civilized and happy". The book demonstrates the consistent thinking of the leader of our Party on building and promoting the great national solidarity bloc.

When building the episodes in this film, we tried to answer the questions, what are the reasons and why in the current period, the spirit of national solidarity needs to be strengthened? becomes an important task of the whole Party, the whole people, the whole army? To promote that spirit, what do we need to do? Based on those questions, we researched and built this film, with the name "Solidarity for a strong Vietnam".

The film was filmed from North to South, in 12 provinces and cities across the country such as: Hanoi, Yen Bai, Dien Bien, Ninh Thuan, Vung Tau, An Giang,... This will bring the audience a multi-dimensional perspective on the issue of national solidarity in all areas: Economy, culture, politics, society.

Traveling far away, with many characters and many locations is also a big pressure for us because in a short time, we have to move to many locations, affecting the progress of the film. However, people often say "pressure creates diamonds, springs must be compressed to create bounce". Therefore, I hope that with the tireless efforts of each member, we will bring impressive and emotional films to the audience.

Through the film, we once again affirm the strength of great solidarity, thereby arousing and promoting that spirit in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. And there is a consistent message that the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong directed at the 8th Central Conference on promoting national solidarity that we really appreciate: "If you say it, do it; if you go, do it; and if you decide, do it wholeheartedly."

This is the red thread that not only helps us complete this film well. And we also want to convey that message to everyone, so that every Vietnamese person, wherever they are, will promote their small strength, form a great wave, create a strong solidarity, and build the country to be more and more prosperous and powerful.
