On the afternoon of January 14, the People's Committee of Tu Mo Rong district (Kon Tum) organized an auction of Ngoc Linh ginseng to raise funds for the development of Tu Tho community tourism village, Te Xang commune.
During the auction, the People's Committee of Tu Mo Rong district auctioned 3.63 kg of Ngoc Linh ginseng donated by some households. The auction was held in person and online for distant buyers.
After the auction, 4 people directly bid for the above ginseng. Two people bid online from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with a total winning bid of 580 million VND.
According to the People's Committee of Tu Mo Rong district, all proceeds from the auction will be used to build a traditional long house of the Xo Dang people in Tu Tho resettlement village, Te Xang commune.

Mr. Vo Trung Manh - Chairman of Tu Mo Rong District People's Committee - said that the Ngoc Linh ginseng auctioned this time was donated by some local households, to help the district have funds to take care of the people of Tu Tho resettlement village when it is recognized as a community tourism village.
In response to the sentiments of the local residents, the district has researched and consulted with the local people and determined that the village is lacking a long house to serve tourists. The long house is a typical architectural and cultural feature of the Xo Dang people, but over time it has disappeared.
“Immediately after the auction, the district will support the people to build long houses. Thereby, helping the people have more conditions to develop community tourism, aiming to preserve unique culture and have more income to escape poverty, and settle down on the land that produces Ngoc Linh ginseng,” said Mr. Manh.

On the same day, Tu Mo Rong District People's Committee held a ceremony to receive the decision of Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee on recognizing Tu Tho Resettlement Village as a community tourism village.
This is a resettlement village built 5 years ago to relocate people in areas at risk of landslides. Up to now, people's lives have changed positively.
According to local authorities, in 2019, before the relocation, the village had 69 poor households, accounting for nearly 50% of the population. To date, there are only 31 poor households left, while the number of well-off households with decent housing has gradually increased. To escape poverty, people have planted forests, cold-climate coffee, and precious medicinal herb gardens such as ginseng and Ngoc Linh ginseng.
To prepare for community tourism, villagers proactively joined together to build accommodation, attend tourism training courses, establish gong and culinary teams to serve guests, and decorate flower gardens and village grounds.
