From noon on February 19 (January 10 of the lunar calendar), at Lach Van fishing port, Dien Ngoc commune, Dien Chau district, boats, people, and vehicles were bustling in and out to buy fish, especially transporting trays of fresh anchovies from boats to shore to sell at a good price. Mr. Tran Van Tu - a fisherman in Dien Ngoc commune excitedly said: The anchovy season starts from the 12th lunar month, boats exploit the sea about 25 nautical miles from shore, hit the anchovy stream and catch about 2 tons of fish, earning nearly 30 million VND.
Some fishermen here added that this year, anchovies are priced at VND11,000-12,000/kg, dried anchovies are VND20,000/kg. With this price, a fishing boat can earn tens of millions of dong after one night of fishing if it is lucky enough to catch anchovies.
It is known that anchovies are often sold on the spot to fish sauce processing facilities. The anchovy fishing season usually lasts from now until the end of the sixth lunar month.
On this occasion, in addition to the anchovy season, fishermen can also exploit many other types of seafood such as mackerel, squid, crab, herring, etc. Most of the fresh fish products just brought down from the ship are grilled on the spot to supply to the rural markets .

Mr. Nguyen Van Dung - Vice Chairman of Dien Ngoc Commune People's Committee said: Currently, Dien Ngoc Commune has more than 252 large and small boats, mainly exploiting anchovies, bream, squid, crabs, etc. From the 4th day of Tet until now, fishermen have gone out to sea to catch high seafood output, averaging 120 tons of seafood of all kinds per day, of which, anchovies alone reach 80 tons/day. Anchovies are very easy to consume, traders come to the fishing port to buy them, steam them and dry them to make dried fish and fish sauce.

At the beginning of the new year, fishermen caught anchovies and the price was good, so everyone was excited, and the fishing fleets went out to sea. The coastal fishing logistics area of Dien Ngoc commune is also actively preparing supplies of gasoline, oil, food, ice, necessities and transportation services to meet the increased production demand in the most important fishing season of 2024.
