At the end of September, 27 banks announced their third quarter financial reports with total assets reaching nearly 13.7 million billion VND, up 6.4% compared to the end of last year.

While 23 banks recorded growth in total assets, four banks, Vietcombank, VietABank, Kienlongbank and PG Bank, saw total assets decrease.

Of which, Vietcombank recorded the deepest decline, losing nearly VND 83,000 billion, down 4.5% compared to the beginning of the year. VietABank's total assets reached VND 104,024 billion, down 1.07% compared to the end of 2022.

Kienlongbank's total assets decreased slightly by 0.2% to VND85,553 billion. PG Bank recorded total assets at the end of the third quarter at VND47,832 billion, down slightly by 2% compared to the beginning of the year.

On the other hand, VPBank recorded the highest growth in total assets, adding nearly VND 150,000 billion, from VND 631,012 billion at the end of 2022 to VND 780,213 billion, an increase of 23.6% in just 9 months.

This result was thanks to a 19% growth in lending activities due to abundant deposit flows. However, VPBank only sadly stopped at 6th place in the total asset race among banks.

After 9 months of 2023, BIDV continued to maintain the top position in total assets with 2.13 million billion VND, up 0.6% compared to the beginning of the year. The second position belongs to Vietinbank with nearly 1.89 million billion VND in total assets, up 4.4%. Vietcombank ranked 3rd with total assets of 1.73 million billion VND.

For the private banking group, MB continues to lead with total assets reaching VND816,000 billion, up 12% compared to the beginning of the year. This is the third highest absolute balance increase in the industry, only after VPBank and HDBank.

Following closely behind MB is Techcombank with total assets reaching nearly VND 781,300 billion as of September 30, 2023, an increase of 11.8% compared to the beginning of the year. The remaining positions in the Top 10 belong to Sacombank, ACB, SHB and HDBank with total assets of VND 651,288 billion; VND 648,510 billion; VND 595,698 billion and VND 505,263 billion, respectively .
