TEMPO. Indonesian President Joko Widodo announced that the government will increase rice supply in the domestic market to stabilize consumer prices amid rising rice prices.

ANSA. Italy has received the third EU tranche of funds to implement its Covid-19 national recovery and resilience plan (NRRP), according to EC spokesman Veerle Nuyts.
ANSA. The impact of AI systems on the labor market will be a focus of Italy's G7 presidency in 2024, according to Labor Minister Marina Calderone.

AP. Ecuador has decided to extend by one month the state of emergency declared after the assassination of a presidential candidate last August.
EFE. The Colombian government and the armed group Estado Mayor Central (EMC), a dissident group of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), have announced that they will suspend the implementation of a ceasefire and peace talks amid escalating tensions.

REUTERS. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) are holding their annual meetings in Africa for the first time in 50 years, under pressure to reform to better support poor countries.
BNN. Fierce fighting between factions in Sudan continued on October 9 when Al-Nau hospital was targeted by artillery fire, killing at least three civilians and injuring dozens.

AHRAM. The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) is considering the possibility of promoting trade with Turkey in local currency , according to the head of the Trade Representative Office of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Yahya El-Wathiq Billah.
AFRICA NEWS. Cameroon's military rescue team says at least 23 people have died after a dam burst due to heavy rains in the capital Yaounde.
OCHA. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said flash floods caused by heavy rains this week have displaced 107,000 people in Baidoa district, southwestern Somalia.
IGAD. The rise of extremist groups and political instability in some Horn of Africa countries could undermine efforts to tackle insecurity, piracy and drug trafficking, according to the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).
Oceania
ARF. Australia and Japan pledge to strengthen cooperation on energy security and climate change in high-level talks.

International organization
UNHCR. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is facing one of the most difficult times in its more than 70-year history, with some 110 million people displaced worldwide and a severe lack of funding to respond, according to the agency's head, Filippo Grandi.
OPEC. The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) believes that global oil demand will continue to increase over the next 20 years, mainly due to increasing demand from emerging and developing countries.
