(Chinhphu.vn) - On the evening of July 27, at the house of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, located on Thien Quang Street, Hanoi, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and the US delegation sent by President Biden came to burn incense to pay their respects to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and offer condolences to his wife Ngo Thi Man and family.

Secretary Blinken conveyed President Joe Biden's condolences to Mrs. Ngo Thi Man and his family on the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. Secretary Blinken emphasized that leaders and officials of the US Government as well as President Biden personally always considered General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong a friend and trusted partner. With the vision and under the leadership of the General Secretary, the friendship and relationship between the two countries have been nurtured and developed strongly, reaching the highest level of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership as it is today.

On behalf of the family, Madam Ngo Thi Man expressed her emotion at the good feelings that the US side, President Biden and Secretary Blinken personally had for the General Secretary. The Madam shared that when he was alive, the General Secretary had paid attention to and nurtured the Vietnam - US relationship; and together with President Biden issued a Joint Statement upgrading the Vietnam - US relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in September 2023. The Madam believes that the two sides will continue to effectively implement the Vietnam - US Joint Statement of September 2023 to promote and develop the bilateral cooperation relationship to be increasingly good, substantive and in-depth, for the benefit of the people of the two countries. On this occasion, Madam Ngo Thi Man sent her sincere thanks and best wishes to President Biden, his wife and their families.
