On the morning of November 27, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the Vietnam - US Business Summit with the theme: "Policies and approaches to ensure mutually beneficial trade relations".
The conference was organized by the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), the American Chamber of Commerce in Hanoi (AmCham) and the American Chamber of Commerce in Washington with the participation of a large number of business communities.
New chapter in Vietnam - US cooperation
Speaking online, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that Vietnam is playing an important role in the region. Therefore, one of the US's biggest priorities is to improve the effectiveness of the two countries' comprehensive strategic partnership.
In fact, Mr. Antony Blinken said that the cooperation between the two countries and the partnerships between the two businesses are more vibrant and stronger than ever, bringing benefits to both peoples. This was directly witnessed by him during his three visits to Vietnam as Secretary of State.
"Vietnam is playing an increasingly important role, becoming an important partner of the US Government. Over the past decade, the trade turnover between the two countries has increased fourfold; the two countries have also made efforts to launch many initiatives to benefit the community," Mr. Antony Blinken assessed.
Expressing that the Vietnam-US cooperative relationship is a historical testament to cooperation and development, US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc Knapper said that the two countries' upgrading of relations has opened a new chapter. Along with support for medical services, student training and realizing the ambitious goals of energy security and energy transition, support for military aircraft...
"We hope that by strengthening cooperation and mutual understanding, the visits will help to strengthen better cooperation, with an ambitious vision to help Vietnam achieve ambitions such as high technology, digital economy, green economy, technology investment, artificial intelligence, port infrastructure investment for smooth infrastructure...", Mr. Marc Knapper expressed.
VCCI Chairman Pham Tan Cong expressed his hope that the two governments would promote and maintain stable trade relations. The goal is to achieve a harmonious, sustainable, mutually beneficial trade balance, ensuring trade liberalization, fairness, objectivity and transparency.
VCCI leaders recommended that businesses from both countries continue to promote cooperation, expand their partner networks, share information and jointly research and develop joint projects, especially in the fields of high technology, digital technology, circular economy and green energy.

Vietnam always improves investment environment
Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked US businesses for their support and investment in Vietnam. As a developing country with a modest economic scale, high openness and limited external resilience, he expressed that Vietnam cannot immediately resolve the problems, but must have a roadmap and appropriate steps.
However, the Prime Minister affirmed that independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity will be ensured so that investors can feel secure in doing business in the long term. Strong institutional breakthroughs will be made, a streamlined apparatus and a team of professional staff will be built to reduce input costs and compliance costs.
Vietnam will prioritize growth as a decisive factor, on the basis of renewing old driving forces such as investment, consumption and export, associated with promoting new growth drivers. The focus is on digital economy, green economy and circular economy with key platforms being science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, internet of things, Blockchain, etc.
The Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam will focus on improving the investment environment, promoting three strategic breakthroughs, reducing institutional bottlenecks, and reducing compliance costs. Promoting digital infrastructure, hard and soft infrastructure, and transport infrastructure to facilitate production and increase the competitiveness of goods. With the view that Vietnam will focus on large projects that can turn around the situation and change the state, rather than doing small projects, the Prime Minister called on investors to cooperate in large projects in Vietnam.
These are international financial centers, the North-South high-speed railway, construction of nuclear power plants, airport systems, seaports, clean energy projects, construction of national large data centers...
In particular, the Prime Minister shared that he will focus on effectively exploiting three new spaces including outer space, telecommunications and satellites; exploiting marine space and underground space with infrastructure works...
“This presence will be more meaningful if it is transformed into specific programs, projects and products, which can be measured and quantified, bringing common happiness to businesses and people. We all hope for a good relationship, based on our efforts, shared vision and actions,” the Prime Minister expressed.
