Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Professor, Dr. Le Van Loi, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, affirmed: Political theory is a special scientific field, playing an important role and position in the leadership of the Party and the management of the State.

In terms of attributes, political theory is the science of knowledge about contents related to socialism and the path to socialism, about the Party's guidelines and viewpoints and the political system, about socialism and the path to socialism, about the country's socio-economic development strategy through each period...

Developing political theory science is of great significance in researching, supplementing, developing, disseminating and protecting the Party's ideological foundation, and fighting and refuting erroneous and hostile viewpoints.

According to Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Minh Son, Director of the Academy of Journalism and Communication, although the research on political theory in Vietnam has made progress and achieved important results, in general, the research on political theory "still has many limitations and shortcomings"; "still backward, low predictive ability, etc. The work of summarizing practices and researching theories has not received due attention, is not synchronous, and has not met requirements; some new, difficult, and complicated issues have not been clarified.

“Research on political theory must have the task of paving the way for new perceptions, theoretical thinking, and new ways of doing things. On that basis, establish a new, solid, scientific knowledge system worthy of supplementing and developing the Party's ideological foundation and theoretical thinking in new conditions” - Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Minh Son emphasized.

The opinions expressed at the Workshop unanimously affirmed: The formation and development of political theory in Vietnam is closely linked to the founding and development of the Communist Party of Vietnam. The development of political theory not only contributes to protecting, consolidating and developing the Party's ideological foundation, but also provides convincing scientific arguments for formulating the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws in each specific historical condition. In that spirit, the 13th National Party Congress officially made political theory one of the four important sciences of the country.

Many papers have analyzed in depth and objectively assessed the current state of development of political theory science from the perspective of the 13th Party Congress.

The papers and opinions presented and sent to the Workshop also clarified new issues that need to be summarized from practice to continue developing theories on the Party's guidelines and policies set out in the documents of the 13th National Congress, including very important and urgent contents such as perfecting the renovation policy in Vietnam; perfecting the theory of socialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam...
