On the morning of December 19, on the occasion of Christmas and welcoming the New Year 2024, the Farmers' Association of Nghe An province held a meeting to honor the outstanding farmer branch president who is a parishioner in 2023.
Attending the event were members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee: Nguyen Thi Thu Huong - Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; Ngoc Kim Nam - Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Department, along with leaders of relevant departments and branches.
Nghe An Provincial Farmers' Association has 21/21 district-level units, 447 bases, 3,640 branches, 497,802 farmer members; of which 16 districts, cities, and towns have religious people living and farmer members who are Catholics; 174/447 association bases in religious areas, 24,923 farmer members who are Catholics.
In recent years, farmers' associations at all levels in the province have promoted propaganda, dissemination and implementation of the Party and State's policies, directives and resolutions of the Central and the province related to religious work for cadres and farmer members. Regularly visit and encourage, promptly grasp the thoughts and aspirations of members and farmers to make recommendations to authorities at all levels for consideration and resolution.
Pay attention to and focus on improving the material and spiritual life of members and farmers in the religious areas through specific activities such as: Focusing on directing innovation and improving the practicality of the "Farmers' movement to compete in good production and business, unite, help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably"; encouraging people to actively respond to and comply with the conventions and covenants of the village, hamlet, and hamlet as well as the regulations and policies of the Party and the laws of the State.
In economic development, the Association at all levels has actively promoted and mobilized farmers to make efforts to transform crop and livestock structures, expand industries and occupations, create jobs, apply scientific and technical advances in production, innovate backward and ineffective farming practices into new methods with high productivity and quality, and build models with high economic efficiency.
In particular, focusing on capital support to help farmers in Catholic areas invest in production and business. Specifically, in the past time, the Provincial Farmers' Association has invested 7,700 billion VND to build 22 economic development models in Catholic areas. The above capital has contributed to helping Catholic households solve employment, increase income, stabilize life...
At the meeting, the typical representatives also presented papers sharing experiences in propaganda work, mobilizing members and farmers in Catholic areas to compete in good production and business, effectively implementing movements and Association work in specific areas.
At the conference, 42 farmer association branch leaders who are lay people were awarded Certificates of Merit for their outstanding achievements, positive contributions to the movement and work of the association, and mobilizing members to live a "good life and good religion"; 2 lay people who are typical good producers and businessmen were also awarded Certificates of Merit on this occasion.
