On the day and night of November 4th, at the Cultural House of Village 9, Me Pu Commune, the People's Committee of Duc Linh District organized the 2023 Cultural and Sports Festival for ethnic minority villages in new rural communes of Duc Linh District.
Attending the event were Mr. Nguyen Van Huy - Secretary of the Duc Linh District Party Committee; leaders of various departments and organizations of the district; and a large number of people and officials from the K'ho and Chau Ro ethnic minorities of three villages: Village 9, Me Pu Commune; Village 7, Duc Tin Commune; and Village 4, Tra Tan Commune.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Cho, Vice Chairman of the Duc Linh District People's Committee, affirmed: "The Duc Linh District Ethnic Culture and Sports Festival is an important event, an opportunity for ethnic minority people in Duc Linh district to continue to recognize and affirm the unique cultural values of their ethnic groups and introduce those cultural features to distinguished guests and the general public. This is also an opportunity for ethnic minorities in the district to gather, meet, exchange, and share valuable experiences in preserving, maintaining, and building cultural life in residential areas associated with building advanced new rural areas."
The festival featured many exciting sporting activities with traditional folk games: tug-of-war, men's stick pushing, women's stick pushing, mixed men's and women's sack race, crossbow shooting, and water-carrying competitions; along with exhibitions and presentations of typical products and characteristic household items of ethnic minorities, and a cooking competition of unique and traditional dishes of the ethnic minorities in the district.
As night fell, the people of the ethnic minority villages in the district showcased their talents through a cultural performance competition, including solo singing, duets, trios, dance, and short plays, dramatizing local festivals and activities. This created a colorful and vibrant evening, rich in ethnic identity. Songs praising the homeland's renewal, the Party, President Ho Chi Minh, and honoring the culture of ethnic minorities were meticulously staged and performed with passion, using melodies and rhythms that resonated with the sounds of the Central Highlands. The vibrant costumes of the ethnic minorities captivated and moved the hearts of many viewers.
The organizing committee awarded the overall team prizes: First prize to Village 9, Me Pu Commune; second prize to Village 7, Duc Tin Commune; third prize to Village 4, Tra Tan Commune, and also presented several awards for the sports and cultural competitions.
The festival created a healthy cultural space, preserved the good customs and traditions of ethnic minorities, and enriched the spiritual life of the people of Duc Linh district.
