Ben Tre Department of Natural Resources and Environment deploys directions and tasks for 2024

According to the report of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ben Tre, in 2023, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment has developed many programs, projects, plans under the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, mainly focusing on the fields of land, surveying and mapping, water resources, minerals, environment, and hydrometeorology. As a result, 86 key tasks have been implemented, of which 79 tasks achieved 100%, and 7 tasks achieved 50% or more.

The Department of Natural Resources and Environment has also developed draft legal documents related to the sector, ensuring the correct progress, order and procedures according to regulations; taking responsibility before the People's Committee of Ben Tre province for the quality and time according to legal regulations, helping the state management of natural resources and environment to become more and more effective, contributing to the socio -economic development of the locality.

At the same time, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ben Tre also advised on the development and implementation of a plan to effectively and sustainably manage, exploit and use public land funds, alluvial land along rivers and seas. Up to now, in Ben Tre province, there are a total of 4,024 land plots needing legal establishment with an area of ​​9,360.87 hectares; 3,744 plots have been legally established with an area of ​​9,290.53 hectares, reaching a rate of 99.25% in terms of area, of which, the legally established land plots have been registered in the land records .

In the field of environmental protection in Ben Tre province, the rate of medical solid waste treatment meeting standards is 100%; the rate of non-degradable plastic bag waste generated in daily life is collected and treated is 73%; the rate of collection of solid waste in urban areas is 82.2%; the rate of collection of solid waste in rural areas is 67.9%; the rate of waste classification at source is 25%; the rate of industrial wastewater treatment is 93%...

However, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ben Tre still faces some difficulties and limitations such as: The management of public land, public utility land, and alluvial land of the locality is still loose and not strict, there is still encroachment on public land and alluvial land by individuals and organizations; the situation of organizations and individuals arbitrarily changing the purpose of land use illegally without following the planning and land use plan still occurs.

Along with that, although the work of environmental management and climate change is regularly implemented, a large number of people are still not aware of voluntarily classifying waste at source. In addition, the implementation of mineral auctions is facing difficulties because the provincial planning has not been approved; illegal sand mining still occurs.

Speaking at the Conference, Mr. Nguyen Minh Canh, Vice Chairman of Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee, commented: In the past year, despite the difficult socio-economic situation of the locality, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ben Tre has proactively advised on the implementation of basic tasks and solutions to achieve the set goals. In particular, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ben Tre was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment for its achievements in completing the emulation tasks in 2023. Thereby, Mr. Nguyen Minh Canh acknowledged and highly appreciated the results achieved with the drastic efforts of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ben Tre and the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, along with the active coordination of departments, branches, sectors and localities.

Regarding tasks and solutions for 2024, Vice Chairman of Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Minh Canh suggested: The Department of Natural Resources and Environment of the province needs to focus all resources to implement 6 key tasks in specific areas such as: organizational structure; administrative reform; development and implementation of legal documents; management of natural resources and environment; public finance; leadership and management role of the collective leadership.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Canh noted: Ben Tre Department of Natural Resources and Environment and the Natural Resources and Environment sector need to enhance the role and responsibility of leaders in leading and directing administrative reform; promptly implement legal documents of the Central Government; at the same time, advise Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee to promulgate legal documents, mechanisms and policies on local natural resources and environment in accordance with strict and scientific procedures.

In addition, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ben Tre and the Department of Natural Resources and Environment strengthen and improve the quality and effectiveness of communication work. to raise awareness of local people and the capacity of staff working in natural resources and environment management; improve the efficiency of land management and use, public housing, create clean land funds to attract investment; quickly resolve land records, especially compensation and site clearance; at the same time, continue to build and replicate models of waste classification and treatment at source, effectively address environmental pollution from household waste; proactively respond to climate change and saltwater intrusion.

In particular, Vice Chairman of Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Minh Canh also suggested: Ben Tre Department of Natural Resources and Environment and the Natural Resources and Environment sector need to strengthen the creation of "consensus and creativity" to promote collective strength, effectively mobilize resources to achieve and exceed the set goals and tasks; create a spreading influence and motivation for civil servants, public employees, and workers of the Natural Resources and Environment sector of the province to perform their tasks well to contribute to the socio-economic development of the locality.
