Investment in machinery and equipment in Vietnam's food and beverage industry will continue to be strong in the coming years thanks to the increasing demand for these products, making Vietnam an attractive destination for foreign suppliers.
Mr. Markus Kosak, CEO of the drinktec Exhibition Chain, shares information about the event that will take place in September 2025. |
The world's leading exhibition for the beverage and liquid food industry - Drinktec 2025 will take place from September 15 to 19, 2025 in Munich (Germany) and will bring together a series of "giants" in the beverage and food industry value chain from 60 countries. Among them, there will be the presence of Vietnamese enterprises.
At the press conference of Drinktec 2025 event organized by Yontex Co., Ltd. in collaboration with the Vietnam Beer, Alcohol and Beverage Association (VBA) on the morning of February 18 in Hanoi, Mr. Nguyen Van Viet, Chairman of VBA said: " Drinktec is held every 4 years and is a prestigious event, introducing the latest technologies, developed in the 4.0 and 5.0 periods in the beverage industry. The entire production value chain is regularly demonstrated through practical activities by event organizers in conjunction with machinery and equipment suppliers.
“A future-oriented approach is key across the entire value chain of the liquid food and beverage industry,” Markus Kosak stressed. “The growing trend towards personalization is driving the demand for tailor-made product formulations based on consumers’ nutritional needs, supported by new ingredients and advanced manufacturing processes.
Drinktec 2025 key topics: “Circulation & Resource Management; Green Manufacturing; Lifestyle and Health, Digital Manufacturing...
In addition, digital transformation in business processes is also a broad area that the industry is constantly exploring, delving into digitalization activities in the industry, emphasizing how AI tools are expanding the potential for data applications across the entire value chain.
The exhibition also highlights the issue of circularity and resource management. The responsible use of resources is not only an issue for the beverage and liquid food industry but affects all economic processes.
Global demand for machinery and equipment for the production, filling and packaging of beverages and liquid foods continues to increase. Vietnam is one of the fastest growing economies in Southeast Asia, with high investment in machinery and equipment, according to the German Mechanical Engineering Association VDMA.
Global exports of food processing and packaging machinery to Asia are worth around $9-10 billion per year.
In 2023 alone, the total value of machinery imported into Vietnam reached 517 million Euros, half of which came from China. Italy ranked second with 50 million Euros, followed by Japan with 44 million Euros. Germany ranked fifth in the list of top 10 suppliers, with a total export turnover of 32 million Euros to Vietnam in 2023.
According to a report by the VDMA Mechanical Engineering Association, the total global trade turnover of food processing and packaging machinery has grown continuously over the past years, reaching 52.6 billion Euros in 2023.
In the period 2014 - 2023, the total international trade value of the industry reached 428 billion Euros, corresponding to a growth rate of 46%.
Total investment in the global liquid food and beverage industry is likely to be higher due to overall demand including machinery purchased in each domestic market.
This leads to a very positive future outlook for technology providers, proportional to the growth of the global beverage industry. Citing Euromonitor International, a UK-based market research organization, VDMA said that the total global beverage consumption is expected to increase by 16% to 972 billion liters by 2028.
Accordingly, beverage sales in Asia will increase by 22%, reaching 294 billion liters by 2028. Vietnam ranks 8th in the top 10 largest beverage markets in Asia. In 2024, total beverage consumption in Vietnam will reach nearly 6 billion liters, with a forecast to increase by 28% by 2028.
