According to the draft report submitted to the 17th Provincial Party Executive Committee Conference, term XII, term 2020 - 2025, in the first 9 months of 2024, the whole province had 225 violations of the Forestry Law, including 134 cases of illegal deforestation, with a damaged area of 31.28 hectares, the deforested area increased by 37.8% (8.58 hectares) compared to the same period in 2023. At the same time, the whole province has planted 1,458.91 hectares of forests, reaching 73.5% of the plan.

Comrade Pham Tuan Anh, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that the reason for the increase in deforestation is due to the increase in prices of agricultural products, so people destroy forests and expand production areas. In areas such as Dak Glong district, the situation of re-encroachment on forest areas has increased, leading to a higher deforestation area.

Comrade Vu Tien Lu, Secretary of Dak Glong District Party Committee, said that in the first 9 months of 2024, although Dak Glong district has implemented many synchronous and drastic solutions, the situation of deforestation is still complicated. Up to now, the whole district has had 116 cases of deforestation, an increase of 21 cases compared to 2023 and the area has increased by over 4 hectares. The reason is that the forest area in the district is interspersed and not concentrated, making it very difficult to protect.

To minimize deforestation, Mr. Vu Tien Lu said that the district continues to be determined and resolute and implement many synchronous solutions to minimize deforestation. The locality requested the provincial authorities to strengthen coordination to minimize the area of deforested forest.

Dak Nong province continues to focus on implementing tasks related to forest management and protection; highly concentrate on implementing the forest development plan for 2024, especially during the rainy season.
