According to data just released by the Nam Dinh Statistics Office, Nam Dinh's industrial production in July 2024 remained stable, estimated to increase by 1.72% over the previous month and increase by 14.21% over the same period in 2023.
In the first 7 months of 2024, the industrial production index of the whole industry increased by 14.28% over the same period last year - the highest increase since 2019, of which the processing and manufacturing industry increased by 14.42%.

Specifically, the industrial production index in July 2024 increased by 1.72% over the previous month and by 14.21% over the same period in 2023. Of which, the mining industry decreased by 3.70%; the processing and manufacturing industry increased by 1.73%; electricity and gas production and distribution increased by 0.32%; water supply, waste and wastewater treatment increased by 2.11%.
The industrial production index in the first 7 months of 2024 is estimated to increase by 14.28% over the same period last year. Of which, the processing and manufacturing industry increased by 14.42%, contributing 14.01 percentage points to the overall increase; the electricity, gas, hot water, steam and air conditioning production and distribution industry increased by 3.98%, contributing 0.09 percentage points; the water supply, waste and wastewater management and treatment industry increased by 118.56%, contributing 0.27 percentage points; the mining industry decreased by 23.21%, decreasing by 0.09 percentage points.
Some secondary industries have increased indexes compared to the same period last year: Wood processing and production of products from wood, bamboo and rattan (except beds, wardrobes, tables, chairs), production of products from straw, stubble and plaiting materials increased by 12.42%; food processing increased by 15.57%; garment production increased by 18.60%; production of leather and related products increased by 28.85%.
Some industries have a decrease in production index: Textile decreased by 0.08%; beverage production decreased by 7.63%; paper and paper products production decreased by 9.15%; electrical equipment production decreased by 29.08%.
Also according to the Nam Dinh Statistics Office, the consumption index of the entire processing and manufacturing industry in July 2024 increased by 2.95% compared to the previous month. In the first 7 months of 2024, this index decreased by 8.22% compared to the same period last year; in which some industries had an increased consumption index: Garment production increased by 19.50%; printing and copying of all kinds of records increased by 93.39%; production of chemicals and chemical products increased by 164.44%. On the contrary, some industries had a decreased consumption index: Production of paper and paper products decreased by 7.99%; production of other non-metallic mineral products decreased by 7.69%.
The inventory index of the entire processing and manufacturing industry is estimated to increase by 33.25% as of July 31, 2024 compared to the same period last year. Some industries have a decrease in inventory index compared to the same period last year: Production of paper and paper products decreased by 58.04%; production of other non-metallic mineral products decreased by 6.71%.
On the other hand, some industries have increased inventory index: Textile increased by 75.52%; garment production increased by 21.42%; chemical and chemical product production increased by 90.32%. The increase in inventory is mainly due to the extended production time of large orders.
The labor utilization index of industrial production enterprises in July 2024 increased by 0.11% compared to the previous month. In the first 7 months of 2024, this index increased by 4.01% compared to the same period last year; of which, state-owned enterprises decreased by 16.27%, non-state enterprises decreased by 0.03% and foreign-invested enterprises increased by 8.79%.
