(Dan Tri) - Sa Mu is a wild mountain peak in Ta Xua that was topped in December 2022. The road through the primeval forest has many strange ancient trees, unique landscapes and is easy to hunt for clouds.
Sa Mu - U Bo Peak (commonly known as Sa Mu) has an altitude of 2,890m above sea level. This peak is more than 100km from Son La city, located on the border between Son La and Yen Bai provinces, in Ta Xua special-use forest - an extension of Hoang Lien range to the South. This is a new mountain peak in Ta Xua, topped in December 2022. Because tourism has not been exploited much, the natural landscape here is still quite pristine. The road to Sa Mu peak is considered one of the most attractive routes for those who love mountain climbing. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the primeval forests which are considered the kingdom of exotic flowers and plants. On nice weather days, standing on the top of the mountain, you can admire the whole view of Bac Yen and famous landmarks in Son La.
Deep in the forest, the landscape is typical of a tropical rainforest, with a variety of plants such as moss, rhododendron, maple leaves, bamboo forests and many streams and waterfalls. The vegetation in the forest changes according to the altitude and direction of the mountain slopes. If you go during foggy times, the scenery becomes magical, like being lost in a forest in a fairy tale. Forest vegetation varies with elevation and slope direction. From September to November, maple leaves change color to yellow and red, creating a poetic scene. March and April are the season of azalea flowers. To reach Sa Mu peak, from Bac Yen town go deep into the climbing point in Xim Vang commune, a distance of about 40km. From the foot of the mountain, which is also the starting point of the climbing journey, one can only walk uphill to cross the forest entrance. After going a few dozen meters deeper, the canopy begins to close, the trail gradually increases in slope, there are even vertical sections where the heels of the person in front almost touch the face of the person behind. According to professional climbers, Sa Mu peak has a difficulty level of 6/10 with many slopes that are not steep but long. However, this is a new route so there are not many trails and the terrain changes constantly. Currently, the mountain climbing route to conquer Sa Mu peak has been put into professional exploitation. The cost for each 2-day 1-night mountain climbing tour ranges from 3-4 million VND/person. Photo: Dreamer Trekking
