NDO - On October 30, at Khe Coc Cultural Space Center, Trang An World Heritage Site (Ninh Binh Province), the Vietnam Tourism Training Association, together with the "Cultural Tourism Talent Incubator" Project, tourism industry organizations, and international partners jointly organized an international scientific conference with the theme "Training and using cultural tourism human resources in the context of international integration".
The conference attracted more than 150 authors and research groups to submit papers. The authors and research groups came from 75 universities, academies, research institutes, colleges, secondary schools and enterprises nationwide.
Professor, Dr. Dao Manh Hung, Chairman of Vietnam Tourism Training Association, spoke at the conference. |
Speaking at the workshop, Professor, Dr. Dao Manh Hung, Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Training Association, said that training and using human resources for cultural tourism in the context of international integration is an important issue in building a sustainable brand for Vietnamese tourism products.
In 2024, Vietnam was honored to receive 3 awards: "Asia's Leading Destination"; "Asia's Leading Heritage Destination" and "Asia's Leading Natural Destination", thereby demonstrating the position and attractiveness of Vietnamese tourism in the international market. The awards are recognition of culturally-based tourist destinations.
However, compared to other countries in the region, the quality of tourism services in Vietnam in general and the quality of tourism services in major tourist centers in particular are still limited.
One of the basic reasons leading to this situation is that our current tourism human resources are both lacking in quantity and weak in expertise and professionalism, thus leading to low quality of tourism services in our country.
To create highly competitive tourism products, the quality of tourism human resources plays a very important role.
Dr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, said that there are currently some challenges in cultural tourism such as: training programs are not updated, not keeping up with new trends, new exploitation technologies; curriculum compilation is not keeping up with the integration context; difficulties in competing to attract human resources... |
Emphasizing the role of cultural tourism products as one of the four most important key products of Vietnam tourism, Dr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, said that the Vietnam Tourism Development Strategy to 2030 clearly defines "Focusing on developing quality, diverse, distinctive tourism products with high added value and enhancing the experience for tourists, suitable to market demand and enhancing the competitiveness of each destination", emphasizing "focusing on developing cultural tourism products associated with preserving and promoting the value of traditional cultural and historical heritages of the nation to form unique, distinctive tourism products with competitive advantages and contributing to building a prominent brand of Vietnamese tourism with international friends".
Therefore, this workshop aims to identify basic characteristics and propose useful solutions for training and using human resources in cultural tourism in the context of international integration.

The conference is not only a forum for academic exchange, but also opens up opportunities for extensive international cooperation in the field of cultural tourism. This is also an important stepping stone in the Vietnam Tourism Development Strategy to 2030, focusing on cultural tourism products associated with the preservation and promotion of traditional heritage.
