Raising awareness for children about gender equality

The Women's Union of Van Canh district, Binh Dinh province has just organized a contest to find initiatives and solutions to raise children's awareness of gender equality and solve urgent issues for children in Van Canh district in 2024.

The contest was held at Van Canh Town Secondary School, to help the Board of Directors and members of the Leaders of Change Club to exchange and share knowledge and experience in organizing and operating activities, especially supporting the resolution of issues that directly affect students.

The contest aims to raise children's awareness of gender equality.

Thereby, contributing significantly to the activities of enhancing the right to participate of children and adolescents, especially girls, in the process of building and criticizing policies and programs related to children and adolescents.

At the same time, it helps children build confidence and gain knowledge to prevent and respond to gender-based violence. In particular, it helps children develop life skills and be able to be independent in making appropriate decisions in their lives.

The team presented a propaganda skit.

The content of the contest includes: Introducing solutions to raise awareness, communication methods related to eliminating gender stereotypes, preventing school violence and urgent issues for children today in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the district; learning knowledge and skills to operate the Leaders of Change Club, helping leaders promote the capacity and effectiveness of the Club's activities at schools and in the community; propagating the roles and responsibilities of individuals, families and society to contribute to bringing about positive changes in the attitudes and behaviors of related individuals; building a gender-neutral environment in schools, contributing to eliminating gender stereotypes and prejudices in families and communities, harmful cultural practices and some urgent social issues for women and children.

The Organizing Committee awarded the First Prize.

Each team will participate in 2 competitions: Media Drama and Knowledge. In the knowledge competition, 10 members will go on stage to answer questions in the form of "Ring the Golden Bell"; In the media drama, the teams will present propaganda skits suitable to the required theme and content.

The teams and delegates took souvenir photos.

As a result, the Organizing Committee awarded 1 First prize worth 2 million VND, 1 Second prize worth 1.5 million VND, 1 Third prize worth 1.2 million VND.
