A male student who received a zero for falling asleep during his English graduation exam last year is now exempted from the exam and has 10 points for this subject because he has an IELTS score of 5.5.
A leader of the Department of Education and Training of Ca Mau province said on June 29 that the above candidate has completed the procedures and will be considered for recognition of high school graduation this year. According to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, candidates with an international language certificate equivalent to 4.0 IELTS or higher are exempted from the exam.
In the 2022 high school graduation exam, a male student from Phan Ngoc Hien High School in the province attracted public attention when he fell asleep during the English exam, left the answer blank, and received a score of 0. Therefore, despite scoring 8.8 in Math, 7.75 in Literature, 9.5 in Physics, 9 in Chemistry, and 6.75 in Biology, he still failed to graduate due to a failing score (below 1 point) and could not apply for university admission.
The male student had previously been an excellent student for three consecutive years and was on the school's Physics team. According to the explanation, because he stayed up late many nights studying, on the day of the exam he fell asleep on the table, while the invigilator was determined to be following the rules.
Last October, FPT University Can Tho decided to accept me as a reserve student while I waited to retake the exam to meet the graduation requirements.
"This year, I will apply for admission to the school's Software Engineering major," the male student said. The credits he had studied in the past year were transferred so he could study in his second year as a regular student.
