On December 29, the Prime Minister issued Document No. 1727/QD-TTg approving the Planning of Lam Dong province for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050. Accordingly, by 2030, Da Lat will become a tourist center of Southeast Asia, and by 2045, Lam Dong will become a city directly under the Central Government.

According to the approved plan, the goal is to turn Lam Dong into a fairly comprehensively developed province of the country; to build Da Lat City and its surrounding areas into a high-quality tourism center of the country and Southeast Asia, and a center of education and innovation. By 2030, Lam Dong will become a "Green Paradise" with the attraction of the leading resort - ecological - health care - high-end sports tourism centers in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.
The urban development planning scheme is linked to the driving force of each region in the direction of green, smart, and adapting to climate change. By 2030, the province's urban system is expected to include 17 urban areas, including 1 type I urban area, 1 type II urban area, 3 type III urban areas, 5 type IV urban areas, and 7 type V urban areas.
Notably, the plan for organizing economic and social activities has 3 dynamic sub-regions. Specifically, sub-region 1 is associated with Lang Biang plateau, including: Da Lat (merged with Lac Duong) - Duc Trong - Don Duong - Lam Ha (Nam Ban town and Me Linh, Dong Thanh, Gia Lam, Nam Ha communes). This is a key area, playing the role of a dynamic development area of the province, a national high-class tourism center of international significance. Da Lat city is the core of the region. Duc Trong district shares the function of the province's administrative - political center with Da Lat city.

Sub-region 2 associated with Di Linh plateau includes: Di Linh - Dam Rong, Lam Ha (Dinh Van town, Da Don commune, Phu Son, Phi To, Tan Van, Tan Ha, Lien Ha, Dan Phuong, Hoai Duc, Phuc Tho, Tan Thanh). In which, Di Linh town is the nucleus of the region. This is the area for industrial crop production, livestock, processing industry and tourism services; in which Di Linh urban area is the center of the region.
Sub-region 3 associated with Bao Loc plateau includes: Bao Loc - Bao Lam - New Da Huoai (existing Da Huoai - Da Teh - Cat Tien). In which, Bao Loc city is the core of the sub-region. This is the dynamic economic sub-region in the southwest of the province, the hub connecting socio-economic development with districts in the province, the Southeast region, the Central Coast, the Central Highlands and the whole country.
