In 2025, there will be 4 days off for National Day and 5 days off for April 30 and May 1?

The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs will submit to the Prime Minister a plan for National Day, April 30 and May 1 holidays after synthesizing opinions from relevant parties.

Up to now, after synthesizing 100% of the opinions of relevant agencies and ministries, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs will submit to the Prime Minister the schedule for the Victory Day holiday on April 30 and International Labor Day on May 1. Previously, the Ministry had proposed a plan to have 9 consecutive days off for the Lunar New Year. According to the latest plan, cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers will have 5 consecutive days off from April 30 to May 4, 2025, which means swapping the working day from Friday, May 2 to Saturday, April 26, 2025. Swapping the normal working day and making up for it on another day will help civil servants, public employees, and workers have a harmonious and complete holiday, while stimulating tourism, social consumption, and economic development. The above swapping plan will not change the working time fund. On the occasion of National Day September 2, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs proposed 4 consecutive days off, from August 30 to September 2, 2025. Including two National Day holidays according to regulations and two weekend days. The Ministry encourages businesses to base on reality and the above options to arrange holiday schedules for employees. Regardless of the option chosen, businesses must notify employees of the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday plan at least 30 days before implementation. Regarding why it is necessary to consult with agencies and sectors before submitting to the Prime Minister for decision, the leader of the Department of Labor Safety (Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs) said that the agencies consulted all have their own expertise, demonstrating multi-dimensionality and democracy. The parties giving their opinions for the Ministry to compile include: Central Organizing Committee, Central Party Office, Government Office, National Assembly Office, Ministry of Home Affairs, Vietnam Confederation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Vietnam General Confederation of Labor... Regarding the need to increase public holidays, the leader of the Department of Labor Safety expressed that except in urgent cases, the Government will request to amend the law, submit it to the National Assembly for approval. The Department will accept this recommendation and continue to study and submit it to competent authorities in the future.
In Vietnam, workers are entitled to a total of 11 paid holidays, including New Year (1 day), Lunar New Year (5 days), Hung King's Commemoration Day (10th day of the 3rd lunar month) (1 day), Victory Day (30th day of the 4th lunar month), International Labor Day (1 day) and National Day (2 days). Foreigners working in Vietnam are entitled to an additional day off for traditional New Year and their country's National Day.
