(QNO) - On January 17, the Standing Committee of Dien Ban Town Party Committee held a conference to review the implementation of Resolution 01-NQ/TU dated October 7, 2020 on strengthening the Party's leadership in improving the effectiveness of drug prevention and control, gambling, and illegal credit in the town for the period 2020 - 2025; and at the same time, to announce directions and tasks for 2024.
In 2023, the entire Dien Ban town had 183 cases of law violations, of which 55 cases were related to drugs, gambling, and illegal credit, accounting for 30% of the crime structure. During the year, the police force investigated, discovered, and prosecuted 36 cases of 69 subjects buying, selling, storing, and organizing illegal use of drugs; successfully dismantled 3 special cases, arrested and prosecuted 5 subjects buying, selling, and organizing illegal use of drugs, and issued decisions to handle administrative violations against 165 subjects for illegal use of drugs.
The town police initiated investigations into 13 cases involving 58 defendants for gambling and illegal gambling; successfully dismantled 1 case. Detected, recorded, and issued decisions to administratively sanction 82 cases involving 387 subjects related to gambling with a total amount of 659 million VND; initiated investigations into 1 case involving 1 defendant for loan sharking.
Up to now, functional units are managing 96 subjects illegally using drugs with management decisions; 22 cases of compulsory drug addiction treatment; 3 cases of voluntary drug addiction treatment; 10 cases of treatment with Methadone replacement drugs in the town; 24 subjects of post-rehabilitation management.
Regarding the tasks for 2024, Dien Ban Town Party Committee determined to continue directing the effective implementation of Resolution 01 and Resolution 35; continue to prevent and control drug, gambling, and illegal credit; promote the effectiveness of Patrol Team 171 of the Town Police to promptly take measures to prevent drugs, gambling, and illegal credit from occurring in the area...
In recognition of the outstanding achievements in implementing Resolution 01-NQ/TU, the Ministry of Public Security awarded certificates of merit to the cadres and people of Dien Trung commune. At the conference, Dien Ban Town Party Committee awarded certificates of merit from Quang Nam Police to 3 collectives and 3 individuals; awarded certificates of merit from the Chairman of the Town People's Committee to 6 collectives and 6 individuals who had achievements in implementing Resolution No. 01-NQ/TU, Resolution No. 35/NQ-HDND and the movement of the whole people to protect national security in 2023.
