US President Donald Trump confirmed that his administration is in contact with four different corporations to discuss acquiring the social media platform TikTok, currently owned by Chinese company ByteDance.
According to President Trump, all options under consideration are “good.”
TikTok has become the center of political and national security debate in the United States after a law (signed by former President Joe Biden in April 2024) required ByteDance to sell the platform or face a ban effective January 19, 2025.
However, immediately after taking office on January 20, President Trump signed an executive order to delay the implementation of this law for 75 days.
On March 9, answering reporters on Air Force One when asked whether the TikTok deal would soon come to fruition, Mr. Trump hinted that this was entirely possible.
He said US officials are working with four different corporations, adding that “all four are good options.”
Currently, neither TikTok nor ByteDance has responded to the above information.
According to US media, many potential investors have expressed interest in TikTok, including Mr. Frank McCourt - former owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team.
Analysts believe that this social networking platform could be valued at up to 50 billion USD./.
