The Department of Industrial Safety Techniques and Environment (DAST) said that the Northern region has entered the flood season, but the water flow to reservoirs is still low, causing the water level in the reservoirs to rise slowly, and hydropower plants still have to generate electricity at a moderate level.
According to ATMT's assessment, on June 20, water flow to hydroelectric reservoirs was low. In particular, the Northern region was stable; the North Central, Central Highlands, Southeast, and South Central Coast regions decreased slightly compared to yesterday.
Water levels in hydroelectric reservoirs remain low, forcing many plants to operate at low power generation rates. (Illustration photo).
Water levels of lakes have exceeded the dead water level (Thac Ba Lake is approximately dead water level), slightly increased compared to yesterday including:
- Lai Chau Lake: 280.68 m/265m (lake water level/dead water level):
- Son La Lake: 179.04/175m
- Hoa Binh Lake: 102.67/80m
- Thac Ba Lake: 46.55/46m
- Tuyen Quang Lake: 96.39/90m
- Ban Chat Lake: 438.23/431m.
Some lakes with approximately the water level include: Thac Ba, Ban Ve, Dong Nai 3
Some lakes with low water levels include: Thac Mo, Hua Na. Some hydropower plants generate electricity at low flow, water level, and capacity: Son La, Huoi Quang, Ban Chat, Thac Ba, Hua Na, Thac Mo, Dong Nai 3.
Hydrological forecast, 24-hour water flow to lakes in the Northern, Central Highlands, and Southeast regions will increase slightly; North Central and South Central Coast regions will fluctuate slightly, at low levels.
The Department of Environment Safety said that the flow and water level at hydroelectric reservoirs are low, and the forecast of water volume to the reservoirs in the coming time is not high. Hydroelectric plants in the Northern and North Central regions mainly regulate water to ensure minimum flow, generate electricity moderately to ensure the safety of generators during operation, and increase the water level for electricity generation.
Faced with this reality, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Vietnam Electricity Group will continue to direct relevant units to increase power sources and flexibly operate reservoirs in the context of difficulties in hydropower reservoirs; urge thermal power plants to prioritize handling incidents of generators; ensure coal and gas supply for power generation; actively supplement renewable energy sources for the system; strengthen the safe operation of the Central - Northern transmission system; and at the same time, promote propaganda work to implement the Prime Minister's Directive on electricity saving...
