Moderate and heavy rain continues to fall in Lao Cai

Lao Cai Province's Hydrometeorological Station said that the high-altitude wind convergence zone causing bad weather is still present in the mountainous provinces of the North.

Forecast for the day and night of June 14, areas in the province will have widespread rain and showers, scattered moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms in some places.

Rainfall in general areas is from 20 - 50 mm, in some places it is over 80 mm.

Rain is likely to concentrate in Bao Thang, Bao Yen, Bac Ha, Muong Khuong, Simacai districts, Sa Pa town and Lao Cai city.

Therefore, local people, especially in mountainous areas, need to continue to strengthen disaster prevention, especially flash floods, landslides. Beware of tornadoes and lightning strikes during thunderstorms that can cause damage in all aspects.

Low-lying areas, where small and medium-sized streams confluence, prevent flooding.

Previously, due to the influence of the high-altitude convergence zone, on the night of June 13 and the morning of June 14, localities in the province had widespread thunderstorms. Many places had heavy rain, some very heavy rain. Specifically, Pho Lu town (Bao Thang) had 56.2 mm of rain; Cam Duong commune (Lao Cai city) 89.8 mm; Tan Tien commune (Bao Yen) 79.8 mm; Vinh Yen commune (Bao Yen) 97.8 mm; Phong Hai commune (Bao Thang) had very heavy rain of 101 mm; Bao Nhai commune (Bac Ha) 105.4 mm; Coc Lau commune (Bac Ha) 111.8 mm...

Widespread rain caused floods in the rivers and streams in the above localities, with flood levels ranging from 1.5 to 2.5 m; some small streams were over 2.5 m high. There is currently no information on damage caused by the floods.
