Heavy rain poured down overnight, many streets in Hanoi were flooded into rivers

Heavy rain lasting more than an hour late at night on August 22 caused many streets in Cau Giay and Bac Tu Liem districts to be deeply flooded.

Doan Ke Thien Street at around 11pm on August 22.

Tran Binh Street was deeply flooded, many vehicles stalled overnight.

Phu My village gate is filled with water.

Le Duc Tho Street is flooded from 30 to 40 cm, making it difficult for vehicles to pass.

People fell flat on their faces when entering a flooded section on Le Duc Tho Street.

On some other streets, the water was more than half way up the motorbike wheel.

Vehicles chose to turn around when they saw the road was deeply flooded.

Trees were uprooted in Ho Tung Mau, fortunately there was no loss of life or property.

On the evening of August 22, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting issued information on the current rain situation and flood warnings in the Hanoi area.

Accordingly, Hanoi's inner city area will have moderate to heavy rain. From 10pm on August 22 to 1am on August 23, Hanoi's inner city area and surrounding areas will have moderate to heavy rain with rainfall ranging from 20 - 50mm, in some places over 80mm.
