Prolonged heavy rain, Quang Nam lets students stay home from school from tomorrow, September 19

On the afternoon of September 18, Mr. Thai Viet Tuong, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Nam province, said that in order to implement the official dispatch of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province on proactively responding to the tropical depression that is likely to strengthen into a storm, the department has sent a notice to the Department of Education and Training of districts, towns, and cities; high schools, ethnic boarding schools (PTDTNT) of the province and the continuing education center (GDTX) of the province to notify students to stay home from school from tomorrow, September 19.

Many roads in Tam Ky City (Quang Nam) are deeply flooded due to heavy rain.

The provincial Department of Education and Training also requested the above units to monitor and regularly update information on developments of tropical depressions, storms, and floods to proactively direct and deploy appropriate response work to natural disasters that may affect the unit's management scope.

Heads of units direct the work of ensuring safety for teachers, students, facilities, equipment, tools and learning materials in areas affected by floods.

Take proactive measures to prevent flooding, develop plans to ensure the safety of school buildings; move machinery, teaching equipment, documents, and records to higher floors or to places without the risk of flooding to avoid damage.

In addition, depending on the actual situation in each locality, heads of the Department of Education and Training proactively report to the Chairman of the District People's Committee; principals of high schools, boarding schools for ethnic minorities, directors of provincial continuing education centers report to the Director of the Department of Education and Training to decide to let students stay home from school when it is considered that the flood situation makes it dangerous for them to go to school.

The Department of Education and Training of Quang Nam province also requested to assign staff to be on duty and promptly report on the situation of storms, flash floods, damages and remedial measures to the Department of Education and Training of the province for synthesis and reporting to the People's Committee of Quang Nam province.
