Báo Dân tríBáo Dân trí01/11/2024

(Dan Tri) - To help students learn well the skills of processing informational and journalistic texts, the school invites experienced journalists to directly interview students about things they are interested in.

The above idea was implemented by a Literature teacher at Phu Nhuan High School (HCMC) to help students learn visually, while also incorporating a career guidance program in school. This program is integrated into a Literature lesson on the informational text genre.

According to the school board, journalists who specialize in processing informational texts will have a comprehensive and vivid view of this genre. The journalists' sharing will help students have a comprehensive and vivid view of informational texts, press texts and journalism.

In the Literature class of class 11A5 of Phu Nhuan High School, journalist Tran Viet Hoa (Education and Times Newspaper) was invited to speak. Students asked questions about methods of handling this type of text when applied to real-life work, specifically journalism.

Many students asked questions that went beyond the theoretical framework of the information text genre such as: Techniques for processing an information text without being overloaded with too much information; how to develop an information text suitable for all ages; how to identify accurate and objective sources of information?...

During the exchange, journalist Viet Hoa shared with the students his many years of experience in journalism, the skills of "hunting for news", verifying information, and the skills of writing an informative text that is correct, sufficient, attractive and convincing to readers.

Journalist Viet Hoa also informed students about the process of processing a complete press document by a journalist, how to select images to include in the article in a reasonable way and not be offensive...

After the lesson, many students had a better understanding of the theoretical knowledge of this literary genre and its effects when applied in practical work. They also learned more about the methods of processing informational texts that are commonly used and easily accessible to readers, and how a journalist works...

Anh Thu, a student of class 11A5, shared: "I have gained more knowledge about informational texts and journalism. Before, I felt a bit vague about this type of text, but after listening to the teacher's detailed explanation during the interview, this is no longer difficult to understand but very interesting!"

Mai Khoi said: "This method of learning by directly exchanging and chatting with experts is extremely useful for students, helping us have the most realistic experience with journalists, thereby having better career orientation."

Ms. Nguyen Hoang Thanh Tam, Vice Principal of Phu Nhuan High School, said: "The lesson brought a new breeze, a vivid perspective on informational texts and journalism, helping students gain a deeper understanding of the knowledge they learned in class. Being able to directly interact and ask questions to a professional journalist helped students become more confident in exploring and learning about the vast world of information."

According to Mr. Nguyen Chi Thanh, Head of the Department of Vocational Education (VET), Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City, to enhance the effectiveness of streaming work, in June 2023, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs signed a Coordination Program on streaming orientation with the Department of Education and Training.

At that time, the cooperation program between the two departments had 4 key contents including: Organizing career guidance activities, directing students after graduating from high school to study vocational education; exchanging information between the two sides periodically every 3 months; strengthening supervision of the organization of high school cultural knowledge training at vocational education institutions; coordinating to improve the effectiveness of state management in the field of career guidance and vocational education.

After 1 year of effective implementation, on September 19, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City continued to sign a coordination regulation with the Department of Education and Training, increasing the coordination between the two departments from 4 to 24 contents.
