Every roof becomes a national flag: More than a trend, it is patriotism

(VTC News) - The heat from patriotism and national pride is spreading heat waves, creating a trend of "turning every roof into a national flag" in all localities.
When it comes to the word “trend”, many people think of a temporary impulsiveness, with manifestations on the surface, but do not forget that the fragile bubbles bubbling up on the surface of the pot of water reflect the true nature of the part submerged below: The accumulated heat must be sufficient and then exceed the threshold to cause the water to boil and evaporate. The movement to turn each roof into a national flag is like that. Appearing spontaneously, without any agency or organization initiating it, someone's idea touched the hearts of their compatriots and made it spread. Thanks to that, the images of the ground taken by flycams from above in many localities show the splendid scene of red flags with yellow stars covering the undulating roofs. A young person commented online that his heart “felt a pang of pride when seeing those images, both simple and majestic, feeling patriotism and national pride suddenly flare up in his heart”. Perhaps that is exactly what the people who have been painting the national flag on their roofs feel. This emotion has connected many Vietnamese people, creating a heat wave that has been spreading more and more widely since July and is now even more exciting, heading towards the upcoming National Day on September 2.

Turning a roof into a national flag is not as simple as putting a flag on a stand or painting it on the surface, but requires a lot of effort, time, not to mention money. Some people spend a whole day to turn a 150m2 roof into a red flag with a yellow star; some people finish their house and then go to help their neighbors complete the flag on their roof; there are groups of young people who practice drawing and redrawing until they are satisfied... People do it with a simple yet noble purpose: to express the feelings and emotions that are rising in their hearts, to spread patriotism and pride in their country, to create sympathy with their fellow countrymen as a way of "linking hands". Looking at the national flag blooming on the roofs, in my head suddenly resounded the echo of President Ho Chi Minh's saying that almost everyone knows since school: "Our people have a passionate love for the country; that is a precious tradition of ours". When there are foreign invaders, "that spirit boils up again, it forms an extremely strong, huge wave, it overcomes all dangers and difficulties, it drowns all traitors and invaders" . In peacetime, patriotism is expressed more quietly in efforts to work and create, to build and develop, and sometimes boils up when there are images and actions that touch emotions, creating great sympathy among the community, such as the image of the national flag on the eve of National Day this year. That emotional boiling of love for the country also follows the general rule of love, all coming from the heart. Painting the image of the national flag on the roof is a small action, its impact on the country is not measured by growth numbers, but the effect of connecting, increasing solidarity and unity so that Vietnam can stand shoulder to shoulder with the world powers is extremely great. Cherishing each stroke of paint to create the red flag with a yellow star on their roof is also the way 21st century citizens show their respect when inheriting the legacy of their ancestors, because the color of the flag symbolizes the blood of their ancestors who shed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. It is also the color of enthusiasm to continue to bring the country forward with an increasingly high position in the international arena. The digital age has witnessed the emergence of countless successive trends with many colors, but the trend with profound and noble meaning will have the strongest influence and connect many localities and many generations. More than a trend, the fever of "turning every roof into a national flag" is a vibrant, innocent and enthusiastic expression of patriotism. The national flag on the roofs of many Vietnamese houses these days is a reflection of the national flag in the hearts of every citizen.
