This broker believes that offering a low price and then pushing it higher will help sellers attract more potential buyers. Morgan Franklin told Yahoo Finance that a homeowner who reduces the price by just 5% can make a home more attractive to many buyers.

However, this strategy is often effective when the real estate market is on an upward trend. Therefore, sellers need to understand the market or work with people with experience in the industry before deciding to apply this strategy.

Set a deadline for the offer price

People don't like to miss out on an opportunity, and setting a deadline can motivate hesitant buyers. In a hot real estate market, this strategy encourages potential buyers to make a quick decision.

However, Liane Jamason - a long-time broker in Florida, USA - said that this strategy should only be applied when the selling price is reasonable and the house is of interest to many people, with a few people making offers.

Sharing her experience applying this strategy, Jamason said that she usually waits until at least two offers have been made. Then, Jamason notifies all interested buyers of the deadline for submitting a negotiated price.

By using this strategy, Jamason received 12 offers on his home in a short period of time, with the highest offer exceeding his asking price by about $16,000.
