The new generation of Lancet drones poses a serious threat to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, journalist Christoph Wanner said in a report on the German TV channel Welt.
“These Lancet Model 53, also known as Product 53, are capable of independently identifying targets, recognizing them and making decisions to capture them. This type of UAV can effectively attack enemy artillery positions and concentrations of Ukrainian troops,” he noted.
Wanner suggests that a new modified version of the Lancet drone could be equipped with artificial intelligence.
The ammunition used for the Lancet drones is manufactured by Zala Aero. They are capable of hitting targets at a distance of several dozen kilometers. The drones carry warheads weighing from 3 to 5 kg of different types, depending on the type of target.
In the Izdeliye-52 version, the UAV is equipped with two X-shaped wings and is capable of almost vertical dives. In the “Product 51” version, the drone is equipped with a large X-shaped wing.
The Lancet suicide drone is a remote-controlled weapon. It is equipped with an electric motor and has several types of guidance (coordinated, optoelectronic and combined). In addition, the Lancet is capable of transmitting target images via television to the operator's console.
The Lancet drone is launched by a catapult. It is capable of reaching speeds of 80 to 110 km/h. The Lancet's X-shaped wings allow for increased maneuverability. It can even mimic the flight path of birds, in order to confuse enemy air defense systems.
In addition, the Lancet suicide drone is capable of attacking targets regardless of the terrain and stealth capabilities of that target.
