The course 'Digital skills and Internet safety for students' is being offered for free on the OneTouch mass open online learning platform. This course is being implemented by the Department of Information Security (Ministry of Information and Communications) in coordination with a number of units.
In the context of rapidly developing technology, children and teenagers spend most of their time online for learning, entertainment and communication.
However, when participating in the online environment, along with the benefits, children also face risks such as online bullying, cyber fraud, privacy violations and Internet addiction.
Therefore, equipping students with digital skills and self-protection knowledge is more urgent than ever.
According to the Vietnam Cyber Emergency Response Center - VNCERT/CC under the Department of Information Security (Ministry of Information and Communications), the permanent unit of the Child Rescue and Protection Network on the Internet, education, communication to raise awareness and equip skills is one of the five main groups of measures that have been and are being coordinated by agencies and organizations to protect Vietnamese children online.
“To improve digital skills and Internet safety for students, it requires the cooperation of families, schools and the whole society. Equipping today's young generation with digital knowledge and skills is the foundation for building a safe, healthy and creative community in the future,” emphasized a representative of the Department of Information Security.
With the aim of continuing to enhance digital awareness and skills for secondary and high school students nationwide, the Department of Information Security has just coordinated with Meta, Vietnet-ICT and VTC Netviet to deploy the course "Digital skills and Internet safety for students" on the mass open online learning platform OneTouch, with the domain names onetouch.mic.gov.vn and onetouch.edu.vn.
"Digital skills and Internet safety for students" is a course under the "Digital age thinking" program, implemented within the framework of Decision 830 of 2021 of the Prime Minister on protecting and supporting children to interact healthily and creatively in the online environment until 2025.
Designed in a systematic, easy-to-understand manner, suitable for the psychology and learning ability of middle and high school students, the course has 5 main topics including: Introduction to the digital world, basic digital knowledge, digital health, digital interaction and preventing fraud on the Internet.
Experts from the Department of Information Security said that the topics of the course "Digital skills and Internet safety for students" not only provide theoretical knowledge but also have practical exercises and real-life situations to help students practice critical thinking and self-protection skills in the online environment.
In particular, the learning content is updated according to the latest technology trends, helping students not only use the Internet safely but also know how to effectively exploit digital platforms for learning and personal development.
The course is led by a team of leading experts in the field of technology and digital education from Vietnet-ICT. The guidance and communication of the experts will ensure the quality of teaching, helping students easily access accurate and useful information.
In addition to being provided completely free of charge, the course also has a number of other outstanding features such as: Flexible and convenient study time; practical, easy-to-understand content designed specifically for middle and high school students; transmission form supports sign language, helping deaf and hearing-impaired students access knowledge; lively lectures - combining videos, real-life situations and summary documents; providing comprehensive skills, thus helping students confidently use the Internet safely and effectively.
Through the course recently opened by the Department of Information Security and other units, middle and high school students will be equipped with essential knowledge including digital skills and online safety.
The highlight of the program is the special attention paid to deaf and hearing-impaired students when designing learning materials combined with sign language in teaching, suitable for their learning ability.
Sharing more with VietNamNet reporter, representative of the Department of Information Security said: Deaf and hearing-impaired students have many limitations in communication, language limitations, especially reading and writing barriers.
Meanwhile, information security training materials for these subjects are relatively rare. Therefore, deaf and hearing-impaired children have difficulty accessing information related to security and anti-fraud.
"The addition of sign language to ensure that deaf and hearing-impaired students can also learn is a meaningful first step, opening up opportunities for equal access to knowledge for all students, including children with disabilities, to be equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to be safe in the online environment," shared a representative of the Department of Information Security.
In 2023, the Department of Information Security collaborated with VietNet-ICT and VTC NetViet to develop two courses: "Being friends with children in the digital environment" and "Teaching digital skills and Internet safety for teachers", also provided on the OneTouch platform. These are two useful courses that have supported parents and teachers in the process of accompanying children in the online environment. |
